Should I make this trade?

Should I make this trade?
My 2009 RX8-GT with 40K for a 2006 Honda S2000,convertible with 30K miles? Pros are the slightly better MPG and possibly less maintenance issues in the future. Cons, its older model.

I heard the S2k might be a bit faster but the handling is no where compared to that of the rx-8 - hell is any car's handling comparable when stock? Depends on what you want, I just heard the rx-8 is a better ride.

if you don't need the 4 seats and extra space and can afford the extra insurance premium, I think it's a a good trade.
The s2k will also probably retain it's value better down the road.
I miss the rx8's comfyness at times, but I never looked back
and if it's mpg you're worried about, I average 23-25ish with 50/50 highway/city driving on a 4.77 geared ap1. I would've been lucky to average 18-20 for the 8. EPA estimates seem off for both cars.

The 06 would be the one I would buy. Its when Honda started using the drive by wire system, and done most of the fixes needed at that point. I can attest that the S2000 is a great handling car. Autocrossing for over 2 years has shown me that they have great potential out on the track. Option Video out in Japan shows the S2000 besting the RX8 in many segments, especially performance and reliability. I do love my RX-8, but I've thought more than twice about letting it go for a S2000.

I know you are just wanting opinions but if you let others make the choice for you then you will only be disappointed in the end.
Do whatever you feel is right or will make you happy. If you like the looks of the s2000 and really enjoy driving it around more than the rx8 then trade for that.

Oh, its not that I do not enjoy driving it around. I actually love it but I drive about 5 miles each day for 5-6 days a week and get only about 13 MPG in entire city driving. Add that to premium gas and extra maintenance and possibility of being less reliable and I look around for options that are as close to the Rx8 as possible but with more reliability and better gas mileage.

Does it hurt to speak out of your ***? A stock s2k will have no problems keeping up with a stock rx8.

after market options much better for the s2k as well. but stock for stock a swap makes no sense unless you just want to eliminate your rear seats, the tax costs on the swap will negate any fuel savings so i'd say stick with the 8

Won't the insurance costs cancel out fuel savings? And don't s2ks use almost as much oil as 8s do? Though I'm pretty sure s2ks outperform our cars in every way. I don't think it's really worth it, if I was to get a new car I would want an upgrade, not something that is slightly better and only in terms of performance...

the thing about the S2000 is that its demanding, to make it fast you really need to DRIVE it. the Rx8 is almost the opposite, its really really easy.
maintenance will be about the same...

if i didn't need the extra interior space i would opt for the S2k if it was unmolested.
i wouldn't go for the miata, because it's just a little too gay for city driving.
if you like having 4 seats in a rather sporty car then the 8 is nice.

To clarify... the S2k IS a better handling car then the 8, as well as a quicker car in general. Personally though I hate the idea of a convertible and from the time or two that I drove one around, once I got back in the 8 I realized how uncomfortable the S2k was.
Performance/MPG - S2K
Comfort/interior space - Rx8
