Should I or should I not?
Long time looker first time poster. So I drive a 2007 Chevy silverado 4.8L that gets 15 MPG. I have always wanted a RX-8. I really really REALLY want to get rid of this truck and get a RX-8. I have asked some owners of them and I have read all these posts on this site and have gotten so many different oppinios about the gas millage the small gas tank the idel the flooding the lack of tourq. I am already getting bad MPG and BAD lack of tourq for a V-8. I love to drive in the high RPM range and the 8 loves it too. What I am wanting to get from this post is an hounest oppinion on if I should buy an 8 or not.

If you like to drive in the high rpm range then you'll be getting around 15-17mpg or worse in the RX-8 which I guess puts you close to your Silverado. Whether or not you should replace your truck with an 8 is really up to you. If you don't need a truck and don't care about gas mileage then the 8 really isn't a bad option.

wrong car for you. RX8 is a handling car. Im not being a ***** but just from you 4 sentece post I can tell the 8 might not be right for you. Test drive a 350Z, good torque, much better mpg, and good handling. Or try out a mustang GT, very torquey!! The gas mileage would be similar to the 8 on that. Im just being honest, its up to you though. You have to appreciate more than just 0-60 times, torque, and gas mileage to appreciate the RX8

I say go for it. I drive a 5.4L triton F250 occasionally and the gas mileage doesn't even come close to that of an rx8. A 27 gallon fill-up lasts me less than a week, compared to a 14 gallon fill-up in the 8.

You need to consider that you are going from a truck to a sports coupe, there is a whole new mentality that goes along with it. Also note that the 8 will probably not be as reliable or go anywhere as your truck.
Otherwise, get it!

I just got my rx8 about a week ago and without the engine broke in and not driving too fast im getting like 16 so its not much of an improvement to your truck. but the rx8 is crazy fun to drive. especially the standard

It seems like you are trying to convince us you are right for the car, not yourself. Ask yourself if you really want it, and if you do then buy it if you can. A lot of the downsides of the RX8 you look to be fine with, and will probably be satisfied with the car if you do end up getting one. MPG if you rev high will be lower than 15 though, but extremely fun :D

Since I just sold mine I'll chime in. The Rx8 is a hell of a fun car to drive, and its not really slow, yet it's not fast compaired to all the cars that tend to come with around 300hp stock now. I had mine for 2 years and had lots of fun with it, I've took turns most cars couldn't dream of taking at the speeds I did. The G force can pin you to the door and the tires dont even scream in most cases.
To me the gas milage to HP ratio wasn't too great, and I just decided to move on to something with more power. My new car has way more power and gets better gas milage if I stay off the peddal.

Well Renesis07 I really dont care about tourq nor the lack of power. robrecht I have test drove a few and I had a blast the dealer was telling me to get on it when I went in to a turn and I was a little scared to with him in the car but DAMN was that fun! Any way back to the point. I have a 1971 Chevelle to burn tires on and I get my tourq kick from that. And fahrfegneugen I use my truck to drive back and fourth to work and around town I dont take it off road and this is my first truck I had the chevelle first then a honda then a mustang so I am more of a car guy anyway. . . .So with all this thinking I have done I have talked my self in to buying an 8 as soon as I sell my truck and can find A 2005-2009 AT Below $19,000
