yes, Lucas UCL and fuel pump sock, blah, blah, blah, but it works for me and I average over 18 mpg around town and my catalytic converter still works.

The legend is in the Amsoil bottle. I keep it next to the 4cy in the rear seat pass through bucket.

I started using this same method with only one bottle and it worked perfectly well. The bottle is deep and long that a funnel isn't required and even eye balling the liquid wouldn't need the use of a measuring cylinder.

With the RX-8, and an idemitsu bottle, there is no need for anything other than the bottle itself. It is more than possible to poor it in without spilling a drop.
I was going to say the same thing, that flap works like an anti-sophon valve. could be a reason why we throw a CEL if our gas cap's not placed right.

When I premix with my 1st gen 7 I never fill her all the way up...... So I simply just carry about 5 bottles of supertech's outboard tcw3 2stroke oil in 8oz bottles...... i just simply open a fresh bottle tip her in the tank without any spilling and throw the bottle away and put 8 gallons of gas in....... little rich on low rpm but it keeps the engine lubed well and people off my *** with all those fumes!
And with all fresh bottles i never have open oil bottles in my bin...... no spills. No funnels no fuss.
However when it comes to the 8 i will be choosing something of better quality just to be safe......

My Kit:

- 1 case Idemitsu
- $10 worth of 4oz plastic bottles from the Specialty Bottle Co (about 30)
- 1 foam block with holes cut into it (hole saw works good)
- Insert into drivers door pocket

I filled all of my little bottles and just swap out the empties as I use them. No measuring at the station, just dump it in and go. This works great, holds everything in place and never any mess. I started with them in the trunk, but having them in the door saves a bit of time at the pump.

And just to clarify..... you guys are premixing a given ratio and still allowing the engine to pump the oil thru the omp right? This is just a backup safety thing I assume or are you all unhooking the omp and just premixing?

and SWEET setup ARK!

FL Protek-R premix by Pettit Racing

I use Protek-R premix by Pettit Racing. I keep a quart bottle in the trunk and stick my funnel in a 12oz. bottle to catch the funnel drippings. I have 8 quarts of Idemitsu left over after switching to the Protek-R if anyone is interested in purchasing them just let me know.

deleting the omp would cause your car to go into limp mod

Thanks! and yeah, I use premix to augment the normal OMP. With the known oiling issues in the Gen1 RX-8's I figure the cost of premix is well worth the potential benefit. If you want to get fancy with the oiling system, look up "Sohn adapter". Seems like a good idea to me, but I'm not going that far due to potential warranty complications.

I thought I read on here somewhere that people have successfully deleted the omp? Not going to attempt either way.

Wait a second.... you can adjust the oil mix of the engine with a MM AP? but doesnt that defeat the purpose of premixing? I mean I'm premixing cause I dont really fully trust the omp to begin with.... let alone a computer controled percentage that its "supposed" to be giving..... with pre mix you KNOW its getting there.

Nothing to special here, just a 6oz bottle I reuse. Everything sits in the little cubby hole.

The back plate is thick card wrapped in vinyl with Velcro stitched over the whole area. It easily holds the weight of three full bottles.

I used to use 5 bottles of chevron techron fuel injector cleaner for my premix needs.

I would measure out 1 oz, 2 oz, 4 oz, 8 oz and 16 oz at home, and label according.

I can make any whole number up to 31 with those bottles. When some were used, I would fill back the ones that were used with more Idemitsu.
