Sick of the "Opinion on RX8 vs ????"

I am decently new here and also decently new to the car, but I am kind of tired of all of the posts asking about the rx8 over a nother car and what they should buy. YOU ARE ON AN RX8 WEBSITE. We are a bit biased when it comes to this. We all own or want to own RX8's so the opinion you are going to get from this site is buy the damn rx8 and skip everything else. I guess people just dont understand that this is an rx8 website.

Me too!! Though if I would allow a comparison between the 8 and a car in the same league. But some of the comparisons are just ridiculous. You have to look at all the factors to see if they come in the same range! Just my .02

I am not sure what people are expecting to hear when they go to any forum of car owners and ask them to compare their car to another car.

there are some people that love this car, however they are also aware of its shortcoming and flaws and are not afraid to inform a potential buyer of them...

if someone were to ask me if they should get an 8, i'd tell them...it's not for everyone. there aren't as many mechanics available once your warranty runs out, the lack of torque may leave you feeling unsatisfied, oil consumption, fuel consumption, etc. there are quite a bit of things i'd like to change about the car... then i'd inform them of the postives like the 9k redline, RWD, perfect weight distro, etc. if the positives outweigh the negatives for them, then they should get it..if not, then don't.

i love my 8 however, i know her shortcomings and won't lead someone into blindly buying one.

Most or, at least, many of us went through the same thought process....RX8 vs. S2000, G35, TT, Z4, 3 series, A4, TL etc.

They want to know what made you choose the RX8 over its competition. They're looking for a biased response and willing to weigh the types of responses with the bias of the board. If they're into the competition they're also seeking the advise of the sages on those boards too.

If you're sick of the posts then don't read them!! It's one post...read the next one. I'm already bored with most of them too, but its these types of questions that brings many newbies to the site in the first place...to find out what owners or enthusiasts love so much about a particular car. Maybe they'll jump on board, maybe they won't but if you don't like a post then read on.

Quite honestly, I'm sick of these complaining posts...and I, too, should just skip them and read on.

It is not the comparison posts that bug me. It is the who would win a race posts in particular. Asking about details and impressions is different.

Ditto above, and there seems to be rash of new threads, w/newie@1-10 posts, they start like this...

- what a pile of xxx the RX-8 is, you have no (power, torque, etc). Any YYY is much better an can wup yous guys a$$.

- wada yu guys think about who would win an RX-8 or XXX? I'm thinking the ??? will do it.
Wada yu think?

These threads need moderator shredding, their owners warned and/or banned. Waste of disk space and bandwidth.

If you've at least got something intelligent to add, and have posted to some level above newbie, comparisons in context are great, no problem

RX 8 vs G35, RX 8 vs 350z, RX 8 vs riced out civic, RX 8 vs who gives a rats @ss...... wait a second, I think I saw on the speed channel an RX 8 get spanked by a rats @ss, because it has higher torque and put more power to its wheels.

He is a good comparison, the rx8 vs top fuel drag racer... That would be a very close race, but I think the rx8 would win. :D

Eh, let them come in and compare. That's how a lot of people do research. Like Sue said, if you see a post regarding a comparison, skip it. If they come in here asking questions, that's a good thing because we can better educate them.

But alot of the negativity and insult is comming from lurkers ,who own other models and, out of jealousy, just want to bash an excellent car. They are usually owners of high hp econoboxes or hight performance V8 GM products. Or they own nothing interesting and just want to troll our forum and bash our car. Wish they'd stay away. They have nothing to offer us. They seem to be a younger set who can only relate to quarter mile and 0-60 times. Thats not what our car is about.

I test drove a 6mt 350Z touring model last night. Form 'fast n furious' point of view trust me guys its not THAT fast compared to 8. From all the stories on the internet about how the Z can whip everyone's *** left and right I was expecting some crazy, head snapping, acceleration. Dont get me wrong...it WAS fast but the 8 is plenty fast too. The engine was loud and felt like a truck....very stable in cornering though. Z's interior and materials is cheap looking and is no match with the 8's. Later when I drove my 8 it felt sooo smooth & refined and it did not feel slow at all. Please go drive a Z and you will fall in love with your 8 all over again

I totally agree. I drove both the convert and the hard top. My old civic had a nicer interior. I guess most of its 30K price tag is going to that MONSTER V6 it has! Give me a break. Not to mention it still looks like the wedge everyone was driving ten years ago. To me, the RX8 is dollar for dollar the best sports car around. I have never owned a car that seven months after I took it home made me smile every time I looked at it...let alone driving it.

There is a car for every pesonallity...pick one that fits.

Thumbs up Its a 4 door sports car

Just read the above stuff. I bought mine because it is different from the rest. I like what the egineers had to due to get a No-Post four door to be strong enough.

The almost 50/50 cg with or with out passengers is great. I took a trip from S. Cal to Vacaville CA with all four seats occupied and a trunk full of luggage and it performed great, What a combination, Sporty and useful.

Two of my brother-in laws own 2003 Vets and can't figure out why they can't get away from me in mountain roads. Beep,Beep!

I know why, they have Tooooo much torque where as the RX8 just pushes thru turns with horse power.

I love mine even with its short comings. Its like owning a 60's Porche, every six weeks it needs a tune up to get full power.

RX8 is not that Bad but you do have to give it TLC when it needs it.

I had to learn how to dive it too, HARD.
