Side mirrors rattle!!

when i play my music louder than 18 volume, my side mirrors tend to rattle and it drives me mad. The music i play has a lot of bass, and my bass comes from my door speakers (non-bose upgraded sound). Thus the vibration in the door shakes the mirror.

i mean...cmon guys...i can't look fly pullin into the school parking lot with my music blaring when the mirrors are rattling!

but no really, has anyone fixed this problem?? Anyone have a DIY that they have done to help prevent this.

I searched and came up with 2 threads about people having similar problems, but no fixes. I was thinking of going to home depot and conjuring up something but if someone had already fixed this then i'd love to steal your idea

any help would be great!

Turn the music down son. Just kidding. If it was on the inside of the mirror the little plastic piece, I just bent it down to where it wouldn't rattle. My steering wheel rattles every now and then and I just push on the part that rattles and it goes away.

My driver side mirror rattled whenever I closed the door. The dealership replaced it under warranty, they said something inside it was broken. I'd try to go that route, but I wouldn't tell them it was rattling because of the bass.

the whole freaking car rattles, thats the only real complaint I have about this car. The mirrors, the rear view mirror, something in the door panels and something around the shifter.I cant ******* stand it!

There are some rattles that are just things rubbing, and then there are some where pieces have broken - I had a rattle in one of my rear speakers, dealer found a cracked piece in the speaker cover, replaced it under warranty - no more rattle. That being said, there are still mystery rattles other places - but you may want to check with the dealer if you're still under warranty.

i crank mine to 20 every now and then but to help you out the mirror covers can be removed and put some soft foam in there to keep rattles under the bass line.works great if you don't feel the dealer will do you right!

I usually keep mine from 9-16, depending on my mood and the type of music i listen too. I do go to 25 sometimes, but not much.

I like to give my stereo a good workout but the downside is I have the damn mirror rattle. Even rattles when I close the door.
I think some foam padding is in order...

i had a rattle in one of my mirrors that i fixed. i pulled of the coloured part of the mirror of then stuck some of that draft stop foam with a sticky edge on to the bottom of that and stuck it back on and no more rattle.

oh wow thanks guys, i never thought of putting foam behind it, i was just gonna make some kind of clip that holds it in place. so you can get to the back of the mirror by taking off the colored part? i don't want to hurt anything...

****... i think i'm gonna be deaf at an early age. 30 to max every day. i like to feel my music.

btw... how in the hell do you get that colored piece off? i've had the driver side replaced once under warranty once but the rattle came back after a few months. sure i could do it again as i still have some warranty left but the rattle will just come back i fear. i've looked for screws but haven't been able to detemine what's holding that piece on. help!

You turn your stereo to 30? I didn't even know it went that high! I've never been over 19 or 20.

I've cranked the volume until the display simply read "Max". It's usually at the request of someone who wants to see how loud my upgraded stereo is. Answer = LOUD.

I'll stand outside when I do it and the damn mirror rattle like no one's business. Well, looks like I now have something to work on this weekend.

i guess it all depends on what music you listen to. some of my songs are substantially louder than others. like 1 song i could listen to on 25, then others i can only go up to lets say..18

The only songs I really listen to are the Classic Rock type, so they never get THAT loud, but damn if I can't go past 15 without thinking I'm going to blow my stock speaker setup :p
