The Silver Curse

'05 Sunlight silver here.

My car was rear-ended twice in a span of less than six months.

A few posters made me aware of the 'Silver Curse.'

Since I'm not a mathematician, I won't go into the nuances of Chaos Theory dynamics, but I certainly don't believe in curses. Nor do I believe in fate or destiny. (but I'll be wearing red underwear from now on just to be safe)...

Anyone driving a non-silver 8, please post your mishaps here.

Well unfortunately I'd like to add to the Sunlight Silver curse...the other day someone pulled out into the left lane of traffic going my direction (i was in right lane, 4 lane highway) and then they just pulled straight over into my lane, not even bothering to check their mirror or to see how fast I was coming up. I wasn't speeding rediculously mind you, but I was doing 60 in the 55MPH zone and they had JUST pulled out, so there was a pretty substantial speed difference. They realized they came over on top of me after I stood on the horn and it didn't feel like we touched. But, I am missing paint on that left front fender, so apparently we did. Now I'm stuck with it.

You guys might want to drive with your running lights on. Do the fog light rewire, and have your fogs act as daytime driving lights. I think there was a study were cars with daytime lights were in less accidents than those with none.

It seems I am cursed too. Three months ago a commercial van changed lane into my car -> new outer panels for both doors. Now my car is in the shop again - SUV made a left turn across my path -> more than 10 grand in damage . And yes, my car is silver.

^^ see now you've gone and angered it! haha 04 SS... lets see so two count them TWO rogue car doors have dinged me, one on the driver side, one on the passenger side, both on the rear doors. For whatever reason people migrate to my car in parking lots. I park far away and am guaranteed that someone will park near me just to hit it with their door and drive off haha. Other mishap was a mysterious semi retread on the highway.. lost bumper.. so I'm afraid the curse is REAL... still the best color though

Well... this subject has been beat to death. But I feel like responding anyway. I DO NOT believe in the "_ _ _ _ _ of the S_ _ _ _ r". I've owned my 05 Silver for 1 1/2 years and have not had any ac_ _ _ _ts! Ahemmmm >>caugh<< with my second one. I refuse to promote any such false c_rse and will not give anyone credit for bringing it to our attention.... >>caugh<< ... brothervoodoo!

A simple search would have resulted in pages and pages of info... but start with this one:

you guys are retarded. The silver BLENDS in easily with the grayish/silver looking road. Factor in the oogle factor and you have delayed braking (kaboom!)

I was parked on a sidestreet in late september. I slept at my girlfriends house that night. When I woke up, I noticed a fresh dent on my drivers side fender. I also noticed that there was white paint smudged on my fender. Immediatly I went around the block looking for a white car that had a dent/scrape on it.

Found about 12 of them.

Actually wasn't there an australian study a few years ago that said silver cars were the safest cars on the road in terms of number of accidents?

People who say the silver is cursed just regret not getting the best color.

Finally, I man who can give credit when credit is due, I invented the curse as you can see from the link above; just look at the time stamp.

And don't believe whatever another board member has to say, namely "Rotten", he just likes riding my coat tails.

Oh yeah, the curse will have it's 3 year anniversary at the end of this month..

The only reason why we see so many silvers getting hit and damaged is because that is the most popular color for the rx8?
