Sirus Dealer install or sound shop??
Dealer wants over $400 plus install to set me up with Sirus. Does any know the difference between what I get from the Mazda dealer install realtive to a sound store sirus install?

if you have a 05 with sirius ready radio, then you will be able to directly control the sirius from the head unit. what you would get from a specialty retailer(sound shop), unless you replace the factory radio, would be a unit like the sirius one, starmate, sportster, or the hot s50, you would control the sirius through the device, and have to tune to a specific radio station on your factory radio.

If you have the SAT button on your radio, just buy the "sat kit" which is like $300 and take it to some radio shop, they will install it for like $25, it's really easy. Takes like 15 minutes, if you don't have the SAT button then you can get the FM receiver, which REALLY sucks, and would not recommend it at all.

I just had the dealer install the Sirius unit in my car yesterday. It cost me a total of $560, but it looks good and works great.
Using the advice I found on this site, I had the dealer install the antenna inside the car on the rear deck, just inside the back window. So there is no antenna breaking up the lines of the car on the trunk. No problems with reception using that location for the antenna.
