Slightly wrecked rx8

My rx8 is an 04 with a sport package. I recently let it roll into a house and it hit the rear left quarter of my car. The work on it will supposidly restore it to perfect shape. I'm just considering selling mine to get one with grand touring package.

How will a wreck affect my resale value?

It will affect it only if you have frame damage, most likely.

Paint work is paint work and will affect the cost. It doesn't matter what the damage was, the fact is it was painted... in other words a dented fender repaired then painted is the same as a replaced fender painted. They don't know/don't care which happened so value wise it is the same. ANY work done will decrease value, how much depends on the person doing the appraisal. A good apprasail guy can always spot paint work. The problem is they usually err toward less money offered rather than giving you the benefit of the doubt.

A good appraisal guy is not going to offer less money, unless the paint work is inferior quality and there's a lot of overspray or mismatched colors or something. On a good paint job, you shouldn't even be able to tell it was done. The only thing that should affect the value in any mjaor way like that is badly replaced paneling, mechanical work, frame damage, or signs of a major accident.

Ok, so the story goes.... *ahem* I roll up to visit a pal at about 11:00 at night, decide to park at the TOP of his hugely steep driveway, and I pull up the parking break. Mind you, I did NOT pull it up hard enough, neither did I put it ..... .. . .... . . ..... in gear. So, clearly, it did NOT roll off as i walked away from it for its hour of death. I go inside, play a little pool, eat a little frozen pizza, and come out to talk about turbos with my pal. When we step outside, I come to realize that -oh so- numbing feeling that "Hrm, I remember parking up top for some reason.. odd." "Oh W)($EU*W$#%)($#@% for GOD'S SAKE @#$%(*@#$U %@" (these were my precise thought processes mind you)

Instantly I ran down the hill on my gimp knee (which is now fine, but was funny to watch surely). I couldn't understand how it went STRAIGHT down his driveway, straying not at ALL into his grass.... following the first driveway, it crossed the street and angled itself to go DIRECTLY straight down the OTHER driveway of my friend's neighbor, and this is not the craziest part yet.... the craziest part, is that after it went straight down HIS driveway, straight down his NEIGHBOR's driveway, it took a literal 90 degree left turn into the corner of the house missing the neighbor's car by probably 5 feet.

The house was perfectly unharmed, save a few scars on the brick corner, a sheared rainpipe gutter thing, and a peeled back shrub that will still be fine.

And that's my story. No I don't have pictures. Sorry I haven't updated lately guys. I was giving this thread enough time to see what diff opinions I'd get.
