Slow to turn over on incline/decline?

Anyone notice this? What gives? The car turns over instantly when parked flat, but the minute you put it on an incline, it seems to take a few seconds to turn over. Nothing to be worried about, just curious if someone can give a reasonable answer to why this occurs.
