Hi, I am a potential buyer (trading my 2004 Acura TL 6MT) for an RX-8, I test drove a 2010 RX-8 R3 yesterday that I fell in love with and noticed it used what is referred to as a "smart card". I immediately fell in love and wanted one, but the R3 is a tad out of my price range, do these come standard with any certain models or years? I'm looking to keep my year between 2009-2010, but I may have to settle for a 2008. Thoughts?

 

I believe all the GT models (leather and sunroof cars) came with Smart Cards from the get go.

06+ Series 1 GTs (leather seats and sunroof) should have smart keys.

I don't know about Series 2 cars.

 

I know my 2007 Sport didn't come with one!

 

go to the mazda dealer. they have a chart saying which model has what.

 

Both of my old 07s didnt have one either.

 

Hmm I guess it was just the GT model then.
