The Smell of Burnt Plastic
the other day while driving to work there was this huge sheet of plastic in the middle of the road. i was coming toward it, and since there was a car to the right of me i couldn't change lanes to avoid it so i chose to drive over it (my job was right around the corner) since it looked like i had a good angle on it and i didn't want to risk it getting caught in my wheel well. i pulled into the parking lot and low and behold it was attached to my underbelly. i pulled it off thinking that was the end of it, but after work while driving home i noticed a strange smell. when i got home i looked under the car and saw what looked like small patches of it affixed to the exhaust system, i think. i thought i could just burn off the excess with a few days of driving, but the smell is still there. right now it's only noticeable when outside car (to me anyways - i don't have many passengers) but i still want it gone. any suggestions?

i was afriad everyone would say that. oh well at least it's not stinking up the inside anymore. i guess i can live with it for a month or 2. i'm tempted to just let the engine rev higher than i usually rev it for a week or so, but i don't want to kill my wallet just yet.

I had that happen about a year ago. I ripped off as much of the plastic as I could, and then I carefully scraped most of it off. Most of it was stuck to metal exhaust pieces, so it's not going to damage anything by scraping the plastic off. Most of the plastic had fused, so it just came off in large chunks anyways.
