Smooth shifting or jerky shift.
Hey guys, whenever I shift, it is pretty smooth. Most of the people that rides in my car doesn't realize my car is manual. They all say "Why are you driving it like that?" or "How come it doesn't jerky back?" or "I thought you were driving an auto", etc. I usually shift at 3.5 to 4k rpm. Am I doing something wrong? Or are those other drivers just bad at shifting and working the clutch?

Of all of the manuals I've had I think the 8 is the smoothest or I should say it's easy to drive it smooth.
You are not doing anything wrong.
Believe me, smooth is how we all need to drive.

Means your clutch & flywheel are shot, you need to replace them. Also, you should be slamming it into gear and dropping the clutch immediately, rev-matching hurts the engine and can significantly reduce it's lifespan.

It shifts smoother at higher rpm, just like any car. I just dont like riding that high of an rpm everytime I shift...every little bit adds up over time.
my old 99 eclipse gs was the smoothest shifting ive ever felt, maybe my friends 06 gti. That was pretty smooth. They should have kept it old school and shouldnt have went with eletronic throttle and clutch...you know what I mean.

yeah...throttle by wire can be a real pain in the a$$ some times. i have been toying with the idea of converting mine to a mechanical setup...not sure it can be done without a load of fuss though.
