so i crashed my car last week....

As the thread stated i crashed my rx8 this past weekend. Im all sad and dissaponited about it and its something i just need to vent about. So my friends and i left the club we were at that night, and dropped the girls we came with at home. So after we drop the girls off, my three friends and i decide to go get some food. (My friend was in his car and i was in my rx8) Well my friend start following our other friend who is also driving. He manages to lose me down a side street but i still turn where he turns. When i make the turn, which is about 20 seconds later< my friend is in a fight with some random dude. My friend thats ridding with me jumps out of the car and i do the same. We manage to break them apart and apoligized to the other guy(our friend was really drunk,in fact we all were) Anyway we get the hell ouuta there cause we hear cop sirens, and we all meet at some park maybe six blocks away. When we got their my friend that got into a fight started yelling at my friend and me for not kicking the other guys ***. . I managed to break it up, and then my other friend and i left. I sped off, not knowing where to go and just full of adrenaline. I started to go up Tantalus, which is our local windy roads. So i take this really sharp turn going about sixty, and when i turned the wheel the car just goes straight. We hop the curb going about sixty, and just go straight. The airbags deploy and by the grace of God, my car didnt go over. We get out and the cars front two tires are hanging over a ledge. Cops show about five minutes later, and give me all the DUI field tests, because they knew i was drunk. So i get arrested and spent the night in jail, worst thing about it is im only 20. Ill be 21 in April. Well im pretty much in deep s**t right now. The lesson i have learned is one i will never forget. I stand to lose my lisense for a while, and i also killed my pride and joy. I later found out that both the front and rear axles snapped and the car of my dreams is totalled. I will never drink and drive again. Sorry for such a long post i just needed to vent....adrenaline+drinking+driving does not mix. Well i have definitley learned my lesson, and can only hope for this to be all okay.

Don't think you need to be told any further about what could've happened... i think you' know. Thanks for sharing your experience for the benefit of others. Glad the 2 of you are ok, and that you've learnt your lesson.

I think you set off a whole bunch of alarms in the guardian angel operations room that night. They're nice angels. Don't work them so hard, ok?

At least you didn't kill anyone while "learning your lesson".

it's good all of you are alright, but drinking and driving is incredibly stupid. i guess it's good you learned this way instead of running into some family on a late night commute from grandma's house and seriously injuring/killing the other party. and under age drinking on top of that - you're setting yourself up for failure.

hopefully you have learned your lesson.

I won't preach 'cause I've driven impaired myself. But, learn from this, thank your God, and be happy your penalty will mostly be financial.

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of us have been "lucky" at least once in our lives...driving after drinking...and nothing bad happening.

But Exeg puts the focus where it should be: we might have the right to gamble with our own lives...but not with someone else's. And it only takes one "unlucky" night for the unthinkable to happen.

If you're gonna drink...leave the RX-8 in the garage and take a cab. Always.

What really makes anyone believe he learned his lesson? As long as you are hanging out with the people you are hanging out with, you aren't going to change.

You're lucky to be alive after that stupid stunt!
I hope you TRULY learn that driving drunk is not about YOU, it's about you killing those people who are dearest to US.

I'll spare you the rest of the lecture as frankly, it's not worth my time...

Yeah, I agree. Many people look the other way when no one gets hurt and then get all pissed off when something does happen. I know everyone makes mistakes in their lives, but certain things just aren't acceptable.

Drinking and driving killings are probably the most avoidable deaths out there. People don't shoot people or force feed them fatty foods or inject them with carcinogens, but somehow hurdling down the street in a 2 ton vehicle while impaired is just "boys being boys".

If you want to learn a lesson try doing it in an environment where you're not so likely to kill someone else. We're all glad you've learned something, but you gotta understand most of us are going to classify what you did not so much as immature, but more so as selfish, dangerous, stupidity that isn't rectified by simply saying "my bad".

Personally, I think you are a ******* IDIOT for doing what you did. I lost my best friend because some ******* decides he wants to drink and drive and then decides to T-bone my friend while he had the right-of-way at an intersection. Good thing you weren't killed or you didn't kill anyone else for that matter.

One more thing, STAY OF THE ******* ROAD!!!

screw the car, concentrate on all the other things you have to do now. We all know drinking and driving is wrong, but it seems as though he has / is learning his lesson.

Dude, Tantalus is enough of a challenge 100% sober! WTF WERE YOU THINKING??? You're lucky you didn't go over one of the dropoffs; it's a long way down. For those of you unfamiliar with Tantalus, check out the following link: Tantalus

Best wishes with this self-inflicted life-altering event. At least I HOPE it's life altering.

I finally agree with you. No offense, this would have been terrible, don't get me wrong... but it would have been a lot worse for you to hit some innocent person and kill them instead of you.
