I have to agree with s13lover. I have only seen 2 in the
Co Springs market, and I just saw the hug commercial just
this weekend (thanks Step-hen) but they are in just about every
car magazine. People are visual, need more commercials! Let
em hear that rotary!

My friend had a Miata, then bought a '92 Porsche 911 2 years ago for $4o grand. Now the 8 is out and he is noticibly jealous of my titanium and feels like he spent $15K too much. Well, at least he can say he drives a Porsche. Almost can get collector's plates on the thing!

i get people asking me " wow, that is one cool looking car, what is it?" all the time. i had one cute girl ask me if it was a prowler, i guess it vaguley looks like one from the front. but more often it is other drivers driving goofy and doing stupid things on the freeway checking out my 8. i love it!!!

On the commericial front, Mazda is doing little or nothing to advertise the 8. All the commericials that I see now are for every car accept the 8. I haven't seen an RX-8 commercial in about 6 months. I think they are sticking to much to their demographics reports that said the RX-8 is for 30 something single men making over 70K. Its almost imbarresing how little they advertise what is supposed to be their top of the line car.

The last time I saw a commercial for the 8 was around Christmas with the guy hugging the car and the car hugging back and I said "I will have that car" and now I do. I wonder why they don't have commercials any more. The dealer here has every color on the lot and another dealer has had a blue one on the street for months. I'm surprised they aren't going very fast. I guess it's the price. Maybe in a few years they will pick up, just like the 97-98 Eclipse, I see hundreds of those.

I have yet to see a RX-8 commercial.

All of the people I met knew right away it was an rx8.... everytime I park my car near a coffee shop, I overhear conversation of ppl oggling over the unique suicide doors, rotary engine etc.
yea... it all depends on the people... it's like the time when I wasn't into bikes and I thought a 998 was a Honda :p
to people who's not into cars, a car is just something with 4 wheels that moves and some look sleeker than others
when I used to have a discovery, some guy came into the resturant and ask would the guy with the green van please move your car and I was like that can't be me... and turns it it was
but I'd KILL anyone who calls my car, ANY CAR, a PT CRUISER....

The Miata is more of a sports car than the 8. Read it and weep. Few sacrifices on the Miata, unlike the sport sedan/4 door coupe.

My RX-8 is an indulgence. My Miata is practically a fetish!
That said, I was driving the 8 through the Inner harbor of Baltimore on Saturday and I heard several "Holy Sh*t" and "G*d D*mn" shout outs from pedestrians.
I had some pan-handler guy amble up at the corner of Pratt and South. He didn't ask for money - he asked me what kind of car it was.
