So what do people think of the speedometer?

Speedometer's great! Had my doubts at first; not used to it. First test drive, i was confused about the tach needle and was doing 85 in 3rd gear on a city road. Excellent that the passenger can't see the needle. That way, you're girlfriend wont realize you're doing 125! (although I would never do that, nor condone speeding

I love the Speedo...first thing I notices about the car when I got in was that it was in the middle of the tach...that is great forethought. I also love that the passenger can't see it. It's none of their business. :p

love it.
I wish they would have designed the whole gauge cluster differntly, but thats just me, Ill have to post a picture of what I came up with that I thought would be cool for the rx7/rx8MS if they desigend a new gauge cluster for it.

sometimes all you need is the tach to determine your speed. for example, 4000rpm in 3rd gear = 40mph, 4000rpm in 6th gear = ~80mph and so on. i know i'm not the only one so you guys know what i'm talkin about.
so like if i'm trying to keep my max speed at ~80 on the freeways, i know not to pass 4000rpm. am i the only one that plays these games? i have a long commute so thas probably why.

Big, friendly numbers may be more comforting to the digital generation, but a digital display is neither easier to read, nor more accurate. In fact, information is lost compared to analog, which can be
1 - read via peripheral vision, thus requiring far less attention to gain the same information
2 - gives much richer information on change of speed
Fortunately much of this information is retained via the analog tachometer needle.

I wasn't real crazy about the digital speedometer at first, but it's grown on me to the point that I like it now. Sometimes, though, I wish my 8 had analog speedometer that was calibrated from 0 to about 160 MPH or so. For me, there's something impressive seeing a speedometer with big numbers printed on it.

its all about the digital speedo! Like you all said, i cant go back to the analog speedo anymore. when i get my 3rd gen rx7, im going to swap out the speedo with the rx8 one! haha, maybe not. but i dont ever want to go back!
On another hand, what do you guys think about the honda s2k's digital speedo and tach?
In my opinion, i dont like a digital tach, feels too much like a video game but thats just my $0.02

My 8 is in for the recall. The stealership gave me another model, with an analog speedo, to drive. I hate it! I'm finding that I have to take my eyes off the road for a much longer time to see how fast I'm going. Can't wait to get my baby back.

Love the big tach up center (where it should be) with the digital speedo. The speedo to me is just something to glance at when a cop is spotted and for this the digital readout is perfect. :D Instruments remind me of a sportbike. I like how redline is straight up also.
