only thing i am confused about , is the way the car is parked. you would think if a person was freaking out, he would of just pulled to side of the parking lot, having his car still pointed in t he direction they way he came in. . espeically with a empty lot.
so i am just quite confused why he would park it normally. any how , the guy sent a pm calling me immature due to my pic lol.

I think it's funny how some of the posters on that thread seemed to be not surprised at an RX8 blowing up randomly. It's like they think that happens a lot. Yeh turn the key and BANG happens all the time, sure. I know rotaries have reliability issues but COME ON, they are not time bombs! Jeezus, people read a little....

Huge hole is huge
i have- 20 years ago the mother of my girlfriend at the time came home from grocery shopping she came in with a couple bags and asked if we would get the rest. when we got outside a couple mins later the car was on fire. flames and smoke filling the interior. she had been told a few days earlier that the floor felt hot and someone had seen her cat glowing.

If there's one place that would happen it would be Cypress. hahaha. Defiantly insurance fraud. I really like the Mazda 3 hatchback, but wow they have some unintelligent owners!

Does anyone besides me remember this thread?
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...highlight=fire
A few RX-8s have spontaneously caught fire. The young lady who was the victim of the fire in that thread got pounded here, the same way everyone is pounding the unknown owner of the LA burned 8. The same way the guy with the foamy oil (not foamy dipstick, but foamy oil) recently got pounded. Ultimately her insurance company confirmed that the fire started spontaneously, and she (rightfully) pounded back at us before departing.
See the link in post #20 for info on 8's catching fire.

The OP responded over there, for those who haven't been checking the 3 site:
wrong doesn't smoke, i cant stand the guys on those forums talking ****, this is what he told me, not sure it was the cat combusting, but thats what i was told the firemen thought it was. and then they call dibs on the rims?! ya...right, like i want to give ice cream to someone talkin crap to me, go buy some yourself.
then they question why there isn't any damage under the hood, read what i said, a fuel line melted and caused the fire to get outta control, i thing fuel lines can run under the car somewhere under the cabin area, would you agree? and this could explain the cabin burning and not the engine, the fuel all leaked under the cabin area..... away from the engine, if this happened to you i would expect you to look at it at first and think, so my car "blew up" not knowing if it was the engine or not. and if you look at the picture i was talking about there is a small fore under the middle of the car.

origin could be anything from electrical failure to arson to a smoking accident or dozens of other things. but there certainly wasnt a fuel leak of any kind involved under the cabin. if he claims that's what the firemen told him - most likely he's lying, but IF true thats why he is behind a nozzle and not doing investigation.
maybe its possible for the cat to reach temps such that radiant heat(or conducted heat if some sheilding touches that shouldnt) is enough to start a fire in the floor pan carpeting or similar. i think it very unlikely but i cant rule it out since i cant recall now what that area of the car looks like and cant see the burnt one
