Sold my Piece of junk RX8 !!!

After 4 major recalls, 5 times of flooding out and not starting, very rough idle, noise from transmission, oil light always coming on, engine light always coming on, black soot on and in tailpipes, over 10 trips to dealer and hearing 'its normal',
lousy gas mileage, small interior, I finally gave up on this car !!!

This car reminded me of my pretty college girlfriend. Had good looks, nothing else !

They should make this car available with a regular motor and scrap the rotory !
The rotory is not pratical for everyday use. A friend of mine knows a mechanic
at a Mazda dealer, and he said they are peice of junk !

I really tried with this car, but all the headaches are not worth the good looks, which is really the only thing that you get with this car. It might have high rev limit and handle great, but for everyday driving these things are useless.

Good luck to all you who own this car ! Be prepared to spend alot of money and time at dealership with this car.

Good one!

I feel a bit sorry for the guy but you'd think he would have posted.

his friend knows a "mechanic" at the mazda dealership who says rotaries are junk. wow. oh well, one less person to bitch about the car, even though theirs may have been a lemon. he could have gotten help if he would have posted here more.

well, you'd think after flooding for the 2nd or 3rd time he'd gone and gotten the recall flash that prevents flooding. Oooor, he would have come on the forum and read how not to flood his car.

Oh yeah, and the normal fix for the oil light coming on is to, oooh, get your oil changed more than once every 10k miles......

Four major recalls?? I must've missed something—I thought there were only two, both relatively minor.
Anyway, isn't it nice to know that, like being stuck by lightining or hit by a tornado, an RX-8 that's a "piece of junk" is, well… news.

So you neglected the car. Never added oil. Never revved it out enough ( that is what the black soot is on the pipes.) And the gas mileage is an issue to you. You had an automatic . . . didn't you?????

Adding oil . . . . . . . . . . . every GOOD rotary owner know to do this
revving out . . . . . . . . . . .every GOOD rotary owner knows AND enjoys this
Gas Mileage . . . . . . . . . . It was on the sticker when you bought the car.

GO BUY A CIVIC and leave us alone

I love how people think that 18MPG is horrible for a sports car. You are literally spending a few hundred dollars more on gas than you would be if you drove a camry or civic.

Big deal, goooooooood bye!

i also love how soot on the tailpipes and small interior were reasons for selling the car. soot is on most car pipes, and the interior size should not have come as a shock if he had test driven the car.

i hate vince.

ill bet the car is happier to get rid of you than you are to get rid of it. maybe now it will get an owner who treats it the way it should be, then it wil decide to work properly.

There were 4. I had to take mine back to the dealer every time and they kept it for almost a week each time. They only had one Rotary mechanic and he was swamped !!!

These are from the NHTSA Home site.
All could cause a fatal crash !

Say whatever you want, I will never buy another Mazda !

Excellent reply. He has been a member all this time and only has a total of 5 posts. We don't even know you. Why spend the time to say good bye. I suppose you do this to everyone you meet on the street too.
And, your reasons are lame.

I notice he doesn't defend the fact that he didn't maintain the car properly but will defend his low post count.

Not everybody that owns a RX8 joins this group. I joined when I bought the car, but I am not a computer person and I forgot that I joined. I was just sent an email from the group reminding me that I joined, That is why I just posted on here.

Only a very small percentage of RX8 owners actually join and post on here.

I just thought I would share my experience with this car. I am sorry if you do not want to hear the bad things, but I am entitled to my opinion, take it or leave it !

I know this guy is a tool for posting just to bash the car, but I love the classic rx8club response.

RX-8: If anything goes wrong, it was your fault.

Too bad you didn't participate here. This group is a great resource, and might have been a help in getting your problems resolved. Three years is a long time to be struggling with something that doesn't work for you.

I've had my 8 for just under a year, and have had no problems. There were two recalls - the emissions one and the gas cap one - but thanks to what I learned from this group they were no big deal. Might have panicked otherwise.

Good luck with your next car. If it's something interesting, find a group like this for it and at least lurk.

Ken
