Im possibly looking into getting a used 04 rx8 6 speed thats still under warranty and extended warranty included. what bothers me tho is that its 04, the worst year for rx8. Ive heard of some problems and just wanted to know if theyre common.

Answers:

- ECU reflashes are common to all cars - they release an ECU software release and then issue a warranty campaign to install it on all valid cars. Just take your car to the dealership, and ask when you're putting it into their system to check for any "open campaigns" such as reflashes.

- Tranny bad: Bullshit unless the car is abused.

- Engine electronic and suspension electronics - no problems that I am aware of.

- Engine flooding - easily prevented - keep your car current on flashes and don't start it, move it and shut it off - driving it around the block will prevent this. Very simple to manage. Rotaries do flood, but its so simple to prevent that it should never happen.
