Some ideas on how to get better mileage
Been thinking of upgrades to put on the car to get better mileage and I've come up with two exclusive options.
Option 1: and this is certainly the cheaper option, to replace the air filter with an injen one and get a tornado air fuel thing. Of course, the results of this option are dubious and it may be a waste of money, but its less than $100.
Option 2: Get a cold air intake system. Obviously this costs significantly more, but in addition to better mileage, more power! Not that I particularly need it, but....
A new catback system is in the works too. But thats going to come when I get more cash.
Anyway, the main concern for me is better mileage. And if option 1 gives a pretty significant increase in mileage, I think I'll go that route. But if its not going to work, well obviously I'll have to go with route 2 and have more fun with my car burning more fuel.

option one wont do anything but decrease the amount of money you have. period.
2-the stock intake is already a cold air system. although you might see an increase in mpg and power with one.
the best way to get better mileage is not take alot of short trips, keep your foot out of it and use 5th and 6th even around town.

I agree... it is a sportscar. It is a rotary. I don't care much about how much fuel I use.
I also don't use the car on short trips. Short trips doesn't do this car justice. You need to stretch her legs out to enjoy this car. Hmmm... fuel bill goes up as well... but who cares... this car is a blast to drive anyways. THAT IS PRICELESS!
Enjoy the car... just drive to enjoy. IT is a rotary and for most owners... we knew the fuel consumption is higher than normal. This car is all about the passion in driving. ZOOM ZOOM!

Option One....
If you know the underlying principles, you can see thru most of that.
If an "injen" air filter is less restrictive, it will let more air thru, right?
If more air gets in, the computer will inject more fuel, right?
....so how would that "save gas"?

the idea being that if it makes more power than you can run at alower rpm/ higher gear hence saving fuel. but of course just a new filter is hardly going to make enough difference.
in the case of his first option its : lighter wallet= less weight so saves fuel but tornado adds weight=uses more fuel which he cant pay for because of the lighter wallet.

I was wondering about that when I was inspecting my car after the collision. Saw the air intakes. Oh well, its totally worth the fuel price. ^^
What about replacing the exhaust? Would it increase the power/mileage?

Increase mileage by; (let's leave out drive slow because it's not a Civic)
1) reduce rolling resistance - increase tire pressure and run stock 225 rubber. Wide=drag.
2) reduce driveline drag - replace transmission and differential fluid with synthetic.
3) improve efficiency - Lower restriction intake and exhaust and if you have the money then have the ports polished.
4) Cold climate? How about a block heater? Warmer engine=more efficiency.
