Someone decided to hit my car today
#26
We just happened to be standing on my balcony one night (facing the parking lot) and watched my friend's truck get backed into by some chick in another truck. She didn't even slow down to look after she hit it, she just hit the gas and booked it out of the apartment complex. Needless to say, I have never seen a guy move that fast. He hopped in his truck and sped after her. He caught up with her and tailed her through town for about 20 minutes before she pulled over threatening to call the cops. He did it for her and they matched the paint on her back bumper to the paint on his front fender. She got busted for a hit and run along with her insurance having to cover the cost of his new front fender.
Justice can be served, just not as often as people get away with it. In this case, it was SWEET revenge.

That sucks!!!! I hope you can get that fixed and everything taken care of quickly and smoothly and your insurance company isn't full of ********.
I just hope you don't have Progressive, who have been putting me through complete and total hell and not wanting to fix my rock dent. My mom went psycho on them, the body shop has threatened a lawsuit against them, and I filed a complaint with the state Insurance Commissioner and attorney general. Now my car is getting all fixed up no problem, essentially so we will leave them alone and I am actually getting what is outlined in my policy now. Yay!!! Of course, it will still cost them several thousand dollars to take care of the paper work involved in the complaint from the insurance commissioner so I'm feeling pretty happy about it now.
Good luck!!!

Just keep in mind when looking for corresponding marks/paint. Odds are they aren't going to have a similar scratch. Rather, the front or rear bumper will have a spot of excessive damage to the paint, where one small part of their car rubbed across a four foot section of your car.

It seemed to be company specific, not just one person. To report a claim you have to call the Progressive number. That was the easy part for reporting a claim. Everything from that point is completely downhill and ridiculous how they act and treat you. Apparently, they think my dent is 2 hours worth of work maximum and about $300. The body shop didn't tell me the exact cost although I will find out, plus they said it would take around six hours for the dent itself since it is aluminum and requires a special procedure and special tools. This involves stripping all the paint off. Attaching some sort of epoxy and tabs and applying a tool that had a handle on it that you squeeze which ever so slowly pops the dent out. This has to be done from the top size unstead of pounding at it from the bottom. The body shop was showing me how this worked, which took less than five minutes and I understood perfectly fine. The insurance adjuster had no clue, pulled the insulation off the underside of my hood, and wanted to hammer out the dent from the back which cannot be done. Most of the body shops in the area said they didn't have the proper equipment to repair aluminum at this time since it is an expensive upgrade to the shop to do it and it isn't a very common car material at this time, more of a speciality thing. Most of them would replace the hood altogether, which would cost a bare minimum of $700 more in materials and not counting labor since it could potentially involve repainting the whole front of the car. Not quite sure about that but two different body shops told me that.
As soon as I get my car fixed I am cancelling Progressive and taking out Mutual of Enumclaw, which is who my mom and stepdad have, who are just completely great and wonderful. I mentioned doing that when I was talking to three different body shops and they all said that was the easiest to work with insurance company and they have never had any problems with them whatsoever. They are just great and don't argue about how much work is involved in a repair!!!! This is going to cost me more money but I think it is worth it after this hassel. They certainly aren't going to make me pay my deductible plus anything above the pittance they decide they will cover!

Just wondering have u try Geico ?
Their claim are pretty fast and easy. They look at it, took some pictures and they hand my father a 300 bucks check and thats it. My father used to have Country-Wide and I just helped him to get Geico 2 days Ago.
My brother was the first one to use Geico and its really good. of course my 8 is under Geico's policy too.
Just 2 cents.
(I was thinking about Progressive too, but ahh, I went with geico, thank god I didnt get Progressive, Thx Bunnygirl :-D)

No problem!!! Progressive was trying to give me a $300 check for my car and I said no way. I told them if they didn't like what the body shop said I could take it to another one for more estimates, of course the shops would be of my choosing. My only other choice wanted to replace the hood. The other shop I called but don't want to use because of questionable management (owner did time for running a chop shop and stealing cars in another state) said that they could fix the hood in between 6-12 hours although laborwise it was cheaper to replace the hood. This shop fixes higher end cars regularly with aluminum and stuff but I didn't want to use them because they had the policy that if the insurance didn't pay for everything they billed them for you had to pay it out of your pocket and they got to keep your car until it is paid in full. They put this in their contract. With all this Progressive BS I wouldn't have had my car for a very long time paying off the extra.
I'd never consider Geico. I don't know anyone who has used them or had any experience with them. I just know personally of good experiences with Mutual of Enumclaw. I didn't pick them to start with because they cost more and I was having job "issues" at the time. I have more money coming in now so I will gladly pay extra for better service. I'm supposed to get called back this afternoon with a price for my policy from them. Then, when my car is done at the shop I will call Progressive and tell them I want to cancel my policy effective on x date, as long as it is before May 16, when they will take out another payment from my checking account.

Got my new quote from Mutual of Enumclaw. It is only $760 for six months. Yay!!! That was quite shocking since mine now is $1102 and that was the cheapest I had been quoted a few months ago. They are mailing me out forms and I will then call them and let me know of when I want it to go into effect. Probably May 15.

nice. it always pays to shop around for insurance companies. I was able to shop around and find someone who insured my 8, my wife's protege and my old winter beater saturn for $630 every 6 months. That was half of the next lowest offer.
Plus these guys don't raise rates with speeding tickets ever, and don't raise rates with the first accident (reset after three years).

That's nice too. I was going to go with my new company to start with but I was originally quoted $1400 for six months and I couldn't really afford that at the time since I was shifting jobs and stuff. Now it's about half of what I was originally quoted. These people have always been extremely reasonable with claims and everything. Never had a problem. They also accept what the body shop says in terms of hours and pricing, too. They don't send out their own adjusters to screw you.
It's really nice. Plus, I just found out this morning I get to quit my crappy at-home job really soon!!! Yay!!! The other hospital I applied to for 32 hours a week which pays significantly more than that full-time job. I don't know the details yet but I left a message to get the details on my pay, shift, et cetera. It will be the shift I discussed, just not positive on days. Yay!!! Now I will have more free time and my mornings/early afternoons will be free for appointments assuming I forfeit some sleep two days a week.

BunnyGirl. When I make a claim, I only talk to my agent. I dont call an 800 number, I call his local number. He does everything else, and as long as its a reputable bodyshop, I can take it where ever.

Dude, I hope you get your car fixed back to perfect. My wife and I were out shopping once and she went to pull into a parking space, misjudged the entry in our Montero Sport XLS, and caught the rear taillight of a Ford Windstar. Broke the hell out of that sucker, but didn't damage the paint or sheetmetal. She just wanted to park somewhere else and I told her to get out a piece of paper and write a note! The lady called and I told her I'd replace her light. Made my wife pay for it! We went back down to Yuma about two weeks later and I installed it for the woman myself
Damaging someone elses car and not taking care of it yourself is the ultimate rudeness in society! I'll tolerate people dancing naked in the street, but scratch my car and it's, "Shoot to kill" time!

I can't do that with Progressive. They insisted I go through their main processing and 800 number. I tried the agent first.

Here, here, I agree 100%. its worse than those a-holes that leave their cart in the parking lot at the stores, the slanty parking lots where they have a tendency to roll... into other cars. I had to chase one down once to prevent it from hitting a nice trans am, I'm sure the owner would have been uber pissed. It was an uber shame that at the time I was so uber out of shape that I was uber out of breath.
