soooo. i let my uncle borrow my 8
..soo basically im worried....
because i feel like he's gonna do everythingwrong with it.
he totally guiltied me into borrowing it. bahhh im sooo weak.
because he taught me how to drive in his mr2. 3 years ago.
and never asks for anything
BUT.
he didnt even warm up my baby = (.
and i bet he's pushing the redline right when he got out of the neighborhood.
and im very picky about my gas and he said "gas is gas"
i told him i only put 91 v-power from shell in my car.
and i have a feeling its coming back with 87 arco.
DAMMMNNNNNNN THEEE WORLLLDDDDD.
/end rant.
ima go play grid to make me feel better.

some do, some dont. I let mine warm up a bit (once the idle kind of smoothes out and the temp needle has actually moved) then drive in very low rpm till it's warmed completely

You guys know how much gas the rx8 dumps when its cold?
You shouldn't be sitting in your driveway 5+ minutes waiting for the car to go all the way up to operating temperature.
What you should be doing is, getting in your car, turn it on,give it a minute to settle and drive. Let it warm up under load. Don't be stupid and redline it or go above some 6,000+rpm and you'll be fine...
In this regard the rotary is the same as any other car.. stop being so paranoid.

U never lend ur car to anyone, no matter how important that person is; EXCEPT the person who is feeding you. lol
I never lend my car to anyone, well except when I go to dealership or valet. thats about it.

You don't have to sit and DUMP gas for 5 minutes or longer in the car till the water temp is in the middle.. COMPLETELY unnecessary as some other people in this thread have said.
Don't be scared.

ShinkaTeen,
you should create a laminated checklist of how to treat the RX8 (no redlining before warm, premium gas only, no 8,000RPM clutch drops at stoplights, etc) and give it anyone who wants to borrow your car. Try to make them understand why they have to do these things.
If they don't respect your requirements, then don't lend them your car. You don't have to be a dick about it, though. Just say "Look, the rotary has some special requirements, and I'm worried that you will ruin my engine by not treating it right. If you do what I ask, then I have no problem with you borrowing the car."
