Unhappy Spacer Installation Problem

Well crap. I got my Garage Line spacers in the mail today, and promptly went to put them on in excitement, only to run into a problem... They seem to be too small to fit over the central ring of the wheel hub...

They fit flush to the backs of the rims, although they wiggle a bit due to their central mounting rings being slightly smaller than the hole on the back of the rim they fit into - a hole just a couple millimeters bigger in diameter, just big enough for the center rings on the wheel hubs on the car...

I wonder, did I get the wrong spacers for a 2007 RX-8 Zoom Edition (does that version come with different/bigger brakes or something..?), or did the previous owner maybe swap out the brakes, rotors, hubs, etc. for aftermarket ones specifically to fit his crazy green wheels? Are these the stock calipers/hubs/brakes/etc.?

Did you get the 25mm spacers? They might have sent you the wrong ones. I got mine from TurboXS.com and they fit nicely. Your 07 would be like mine. Here's the fitment on my 8:

Yeah that's what I ordered, and they say "HGC25" on the sides...

Yep, that's the one I got. I suggest contacting Raj at TurboXS. He is very easy to work with. I'm sure he'll be able to help you out.

It could be possible that the paint on the spacers and or the rust/corrosion on the hub is affecting the clearance and maybe a mallet and a few taps will get it to fit...or it could just be a mislabelled/incorrect part.

With my experience with these spacers, the clearances are very good, infact the spacers fit nicely on the hubs.

Hey there,

you need to take your ring off, and then apply the wheel spacer.

I will try this when I get home from work in an hour ot two. Is there any specific way to take it off? Does it unscrew? It seemed like it was all one piece when I was looking at it.... O.o

Aaahh, I thought it felt like plastic when I tapped it with my fingers/fingernails, it didn't resonate right to be metal... So how do I get it off?? O.o

look closer... You need these when you but rims with the incorrect center bore.

Great... How do I get them off? I mean I have a mallet, can I just beat them off (heh heh...)? Do they screw on/off?

Pry it off with a flat screw driver. They do not screw on. its just a tight fit on the hub. Once you have it off it should fit on the outside of the spacer before you bolt on the wheel. It should take up the space you mentioned

^ yep. spray them with penetrate if they are stubborn. When you put them back on put a bit of anti seize on the mating surface to prevent it from doing it again.

Wait why would I put them back on if they don't fit inside the spacers? Are they supposed to fit, and I need to like, clean or polish them or something..? Or do I just leave them off when I put the spacers on?

The back of the spacers are hubcentric to the car. Hence you do not need the hubcentric rings. The front of the spacer is hubcentric to the oem Mazda wheels. If you were running the oem wheels, you would not need the rings at all.

Since you are running aftermarket wheels you need the rings. The rings are a part of the aftermarket wheels. Not part of the car.

If you were to put your aftermarket wheels on another mazda car, you would need to take those hubcentric rings with them.

I'm guessing I should transfer the plastic hub centric ring "adapters" to the hub centric rings on the spacers themselves before I put the wheels on? Sorry to be so exact on this, I just don't want to assume some **** and then end up with my wheels flopping around because they don't fit right... O.o
.
[EDIT] - Wait never mind, I re-read the post and the answer is there, now I get it... Thanks. I'm just paranoid about screwing it up.
