the top speed is 150 with no speed limiters. When i reach 117 the speed just drops instantly

Japan is not in Texas.....

Yours is an "El Paso Texas" model, his is a JDM model, imported into Cyprus (also not in Texas!)

There are rev limiter workarounds, on sale in Japan.

The Greddy E-Manage Ultimate has one...US Greddy link

Try some of the other JDM tuner shops....

I believe most of the Japanese cars (sold in Japan) are limited at 180kmph or 118mph from the factory. You can get a speed limit remove device from HKS, etc. for just over $100.

Hi Alex,

I took mine to stephanides for a service and they flashed it at the same time (standard procedure)

going down to the airport one night i got to 200kph before i realised that the speed limiter hadnt cut in. I havent had the chance to double check (yet) but it would seem that the flash removed the speed limiter.

Of course the qestion now is whether it also got tuned down to an EU-friendly-longer-cat-life of 238hp and i'm hoping Fabrice has an answer for that.

It does seem a little less quick but it could be all in my head, specially as one day it flys and one day it feels like its got a bit of the flu. In fact its more fickle than most women.

Eventhough the speedometer says 150 etc the vehcile is prob only doing about 138. The only true way to gauge speed on a vehicle at high speed is GPS. The reason is because at that speed the tire actually "slips" thus making the tire rotation faster than the area covered.

I too have a jdm car and it cuts at 187kmh. I have also heard that hks do a kit to remove the limiter it is on my list of things to change. I have avoided the reflashes so not to lower the cars horsepower from 250 to 238. The only one i have had done is the petrol tank flash which they assured me does not change the power. let us know how you get on with the speed limiter removal

Why on earth would you want to go 150mph??!! You hit one stretch of bad pavement or something in the road and you become one with the asphault. Seriously folks, seek your thrills in other ways. If you really like the adrenaline rush, go jump out of a plane - it's much safer and I'm guessing much more thrilling.

I, for my part, will almost certainly never go 150mph. My limits as a driver come well before the limits of the car. But I confess, it still makes me feel warm inside to know the car can do it.

Of course, if I'm ever chased by a band of Illinois ****'s...

At Texas Motor Speedway and Texas World Speedway during DE events I consistently go much faster than 117 on the back straights. Reason enough for me. 150 may sound absurd but a speed limiter at 117 is also absurd.

Not saying that I don't believe you, but do you have any sources to back this up? For the tire to actually slip at 150mph I would imagine the car would be getting so little downforce as to be unstable and highly dangerous.

Jumping out of a plane is more safer? At least with a car you have airbags and seat belts, with jumping out of a plane all you have is hope. If that parachute doesn't open you are done.

Most parachutes work these days, and you also would probably decide on jumping with a backup as well. The plane jump is much safer. Seat belts and air bags don't guarantee you will come out untouched from a 150mph crash.

ZOMG, this is the best post ever!!! I totally agree with you. That's why I bought the 8 is because it handles SO well at low speeds!!! Remember "55 saves lives"
