yeah I just moved out of Orlando a few weeks ago.!!! it can get pretty crazy aound there you better b doing at least 75 to b safe....but traveling 90 or more is easily done by lots of ppl.....

get the best lawyer you can afford and give ti a try it will(if you win) b cheaper than paying the crazy insurace rates u most likely will pay if you don't try to fight it or if you lose...

I didn't believe him until one Christmas we were coming back from one of the new malls around there going about 85..sure enough, state trooper passed us on by with not so much as a glance in our direction. This has happened several times.. I dunno, interesting. I wouldn't do that in Austin. You WILL get pulled over and arrested for reckless driving and your car WILL be impounded.
Make no mistake Atlanta has some of the fastest, worst drivers in the South and I too have seen cops do nothing at times but they will pull you over too and rightfully so.

Just this past weekend we had 3 people killed in two different accidents.
Speed was the cause of both.
Or I should say excessive speed.
1. SUV speeding hit car.
2. Some type of Acura was speeding loss control and went off the road.

Say what you will about how they drive in Europe but people are dying over here.
Also at some point people need to be responsible for own their actions.
You broke the law. [Not saying you jsjjr]
Be a man a deal with it.

Knowing a cop is following and he continuing to speed.

That's just stunning to me.

...and fewer ppl would die if we adopted 'how they drive' in Europe - Germany specifically.

Speeding didn't hurt those people - the ****-poor decision-making killed them.

Thanks for the responses, guys! I already knew the stupidity on my part of the whole case, so I don't mind if some of you wanted to repeated it back to me Doing 80mph near Miami (or any FL highway) is like an unwritten rule. I say this because I have seen cops cruise much faster than 80... In fact, I drive near cop cars going 80mph almost everyday while heading to work. I guess perhaps that was why I didn't think twice about this cop tailgating me... Yet, it is still true that the speed limit is simply what it is: a limit that all must follow despite of anything. So, YES, it didn't matter if the traffic and the cop were going as fast as I was. I was just going to take the hit on the speeding ticket because of the obvious fact that I was speeding. But, the harsh surprise of 30+mph was something that frustrated me afterward.

I have already spoken to a few lawyers, and supposedly I should be ok with the case. One: I was "paced" by the cop, meaning that most of the time the case gets thrown out of court simply because it is the worst way for a cop to cite a speeder (i.e. the pacing equipment was not calibrated correctly, etc.). Two: I have a clean driving record ever since high school (that's almost 10 years ago, and even then I didn't get points on my license). Plus, the court only looks at the previous two years for your clean/dirty driving record.

Either way this is a wake-up call for me. South Florida just earned another driver who will drive at "senior citizen speed." Only this one will be an imported Mazda instead of a Buick...

Good luck. Next time you see a cop slow down! And not with your brakes cuz it is red flag tip off to them. Downshift and its much subtler.

I had one tailing my rear last night and I was behind a car going speed limit or below. I was nervous the whole time thinking he'd pull me over for some lame reason.

Something about the 8 makes cops go OMG a SPEEEEDER!!! sorry not true.... One followed my for about 5 minutes making every turn the same as myn, meanwhile my radar detector is going crazy from the moment he came into my lane.

Actually you are part right.
They updated the report this morning.
Drinking in both cases plus a high rate of speed is now listed as the cause.

I would call drinking and driving **** poor decision making without question.

Bike cop or patrol car cop? Bike cops are more likely to show up.
FHP or city? FHP more likely to show up.

Plead not guilty, try to pick a day when you think the cop might have something else to do. 50/50 shot.

This is a couple hundred dollar ticket right?
Considered traffic school?
