$400 for a speeding ticket? With an income stream like that, how did California manage to go bankrupt?

My last traffic infraction was back in '02. (Yeah, I'm old, lost my edge...nothing since then.) It was a double - ran a stop sign, then did 55 in a 35. Total fine, including court fees, was $144.

Please - nobody tell Virginia what California gets away with.

Lucky you, sadly they even raised the fee's for traffic school here too. If I wanted to pay my fine and go to traffic school with it add another $70-80 plus the fee that the actual traffic school charges.

Hay Volcom I have a RX8 sticker that will give you 40 horse power for 300 bucks.

A lawyer can not dismiss the ticket.

Yes sir, no discount for traffic school anymore. Ticket cost plus school cost.

408 bucks WOW! It was 275 15 years ago.

And they say going to the track is too expensive...........

250 to 300 bucks for a track day. Plus a clean record.

no-shows dont happen much anymore. The officers know their court dates which are scheduled in advance. if they dont show many times the judge will just continue the ticket to another date. If you try to fight a ticket without a lawyer you will usually lose. Pay a lawyer who will negotiate with the prosecutor to reduce the ticket. You will still pay the full fine but usually not get points added to your license. Good luck.

I was doing 83, my ticket was for 280. First time i plead not guilty but later changed it to guilty once he showed. They then lowered it to 220.

volcom: they don't have to show you the radar gun. most CHP don't use the 'gun', they have a radar bar in the car.

it'll be at least $400.
you have any tickets on your record now?

Ken, my last ticket was in my RX-7 in about 1980. I was radar'd at 85. But they didn't catch me until the roadblock some 50 miles later- I was going at least 125 but they only had hard evidence for 85, lol. I was charged with speeding and attempting to elude. The judge reduced the fine to $450, there was a $25 impound fee to get my car back, leaving me with $50 to get back home with. The judge took a "boys will be boys" attitude since I told him I was speeding to meet my girl up in Washington state (truth!). I was out of jail in about 3 hours.

Today, such an offense would get me locked up for a long time, cost thousands plus lawyer fees, and I'd lose my license.

Been clean ever since. Besides, the 8 is ticket-proof if you are a worthy driver.

Ha ha... I have seen them add court cost to the ticket.

You show up in court and it cost you more due to the tax payers cost to keep the legal system going.

Let me see... 408 plus 100 = 508 bucks for a ticket.

All depends if your a jerk or how the judge feels that day.

Dude... it's less than 20 over the limit.

Traffic School applies.

Plus the 1st ticket over two years doesn't hurt your insurance.

just go to court if the cop shows dont fight it talk to the judge, tell her your going to college that you cannot afford the price of the ticket and most likly they will lower the ammount then setup a payment plan thats what i did
