I didn't post this in the for sale section because I'm not the person selling them. In the back of this month's Autoweek, (classified section), there are two RX8s for sale from Speedsource, or so it looks as they are the sellers. They are asking $65K for each. Both cars has modifications although the listing is a bit vague about the details.

That guy who is doing a major project on his 8 (major hp upgrades section) should have started off with one of those bad boys.

Does anyone know the details of the modifications? On their site I didn't see anything.

 

In the rules list it must be production motor but it lists 20b Cosmo 3rotor. I think it's factory motor with racing gear box. Of course suspension modifications, exhaust, wheel/tire. Everything would be available from the Mazdaspeed Motorsports catalogue I believe.

 

I've talked to Syvian Tremblay about the 8's before. He had his mechanic give us an overview of the cars at the Birmingham Grand Am Race.

Stock motor which has been taken apart and a few things done to it.
Custom SpeedSource Intake (the custom stuff is what they engineered/designed and built themselves)
Custom suspension
Stock RX-8 gearbox (they rebuild it after every race)
Custom exhaust
Stock brakes with racing pads
17" wheels
I can't remember the name of the radiator they use, but not stock. (it's big as hell)

He wouldn't tell us exactly the hp, but when we said 220 rwhp, he smiled and said, "Something like that."

I also hung out with Southpaw Racing and their RX-8. They let me sit in it and I talked to the driver and head mechanic a while. They are great guys too. If you ever get to go to a Grand Am race, get a paddock pass and talk with the teams. Most of them are very hospitable.
