Sports Packages... Couple Question

It looks like the SPorts Pckg AT gets you all the stuff like brakes, wheels, DSC etc... which the AT doesn't come w/ for $1900.

But with a 6sp $1200 Sports Pkg it looks like you get HID and Fog lights. You've already get everything else on the base 6 spd. What other details if any am I missing on this Sports Pckg (MT)?

Unless my math is wrong that suggests they place a value for the 18" wheels, tires, DSC/TC, limited slip and larger brakes at $700. That seems like a no brainer on the A/T car.

From the manual transmission perspective I dont' think it's much of a package unless you are into headlights.

It should have included a seat upgrade - maybe an 8 way adjustable seat in either cloth or leather.

thanks,

You also get the DSC with the MT sport package.

OK that helps. I mis-read that and thought it was part of the LSD included w/ the MT - thanks for the clarification.

Well yeah - I only mentioned 'lights' - the lights and DSC are common to both packages. The $700 difference is where the meaty stuff is but then it's only makin gup for a decontented AT.

Other than DSC/Lights it seems like the package is mostly about catching the AT up to the MT in content.

Just when I thought my opinion of 'packaging' couldn't get any lower - along come s the Rx8. Sigh.

Someday, I'm telling ya, someday one of the car makers is going to bolt from the pack of sheep and followers and start offering true 'options' again - and when that maker does - whoever it is - I'm going to seriousy consider rewarding them w/ loyalty as a customer.

But until then I'll just grouse about it I suppose

You know, on 2nd thought I should recant. I went over to BMWUSA.com and was surprised at the granularity of options available in a 3 series. I was pleasantly surprised that in fact I could configure a car w/ the exact options I did want and perhaps more importantly NOTHING I didn't want. Maybe 'packaging' hasn't quite fully assimilated everyone afterall!
