Steering wheel extension?

Anyone know if those made by momo or sparco fits on our stock steering wheel? Like it's a piece that fits between the hub and the steering wheel so it extends it towards the driver. I find my wheel too far out and would like to extend it (WHEN is mazda gonna have tilt and telescopic function??).

The steering wheel spacers made by sparco/momo will not work with the stock steering wheel; to use them, you'll need an aftermarket steering wheel.

Yes, there is a new product out that could give you a few more inches.....hmm, I recall Austin Powers displaying one that he thought worked for him....half way

I have to sit with the seat reclined quite a bit to give myself enough headroom in the car. . things would be a bit more "comfy" if the wheel could pull a little closer.

Multi-Year BUMP!

Problem still exists. Issue is head room with helmet. Lowered seat thread solves a bit of it, as well as sliding the seat back. Now it would be nice to have wheel closer for track work.

Thanks

I just installed an aftermarket hub and wheel...but you loose everything but the horn....and in order for the steering angle sensor to work properly you have to make an adapter that requires some Fab skills. It is not an easy thing to get working properly. Thnking about getting a few of the adapters made? Dunno if they would sell though.

It would be much easier to correct your seating position than to get this to work...

@dannobre

Seating position will not help any more. Issue is power seat + sun roof +helmet. To get butt to top of helmet distance correct, even with lowered seat, I need to be farther back, or cannot really reach the wheel. If I slide butt forward, and crouch down, knees hit dashboard.

I am going to try tearing seat out again, and see if I can get at foam. From what I could tell last time though, the power seat foam is all in one piece.

Thanks for the heads up on the steering angle sensor.

Might need to go with a racing seat and custom bracket to get yourself into a decent position

...there is room there for 6"4ish in a custom setup with lots of room.........

And that's the reason why I chose the Sport over the GT when I bought mine this time last year. Nothing beats that several extra inches of headroom when you've got a helmet on, and you're over 6' tall.

I do hope you are able to solve your steering wheel dilemma.

BC.

This thread is alive again! Anyway, i never heard of a steering wheel extension. Why not just move the chair forward so that you could reach it and drive it comfortably...just sayin'
