Still an eye-catcher

A year later and my 8 is still an attention getter. Two workers from a building contractor here on campus stopped me after I parked my 8 nearby and asked a bunch of questions about the 8; how fast; what type engine; how much HP, etc. They seemed very impressed and they loved the styling. Even the coeds around here give me a look every now and then (well, I know it's the car, not me).

Definitely an eye-catcher here, too. I live in Cedar Rapids (last I heard, population is around 150,000), and I have only seen 4 other RX-8s on the road in the past year. It's crazy! I guess everyone here would rather drive a plain vanilla car, or an SUV / pickup for their commutes (they don't know what they're missing!).

I filled my tank one day last week, went in to pay, came out and a truck load of highway workers or something had unloaded and were all standing around my car. They asked a ton of questions about it. You could hear a big collective intake of breath when I responded to the "how many cylinders" question. I even had to demonstrate the suicide doors for them. My bf said they were just hitting on me. But, honestly, I don't think they even realized I was a female. They just liked the car. It was fun!!

LMAO, yeah everytime I do a drive thru I get some guy working the window asking about my car. I decided to mess with one guy and told him my 0-60 was 5.9 and my 1/4 mile was under 11...

The numbers don't even add up, but he was all impressed that it would beat his Trans Am...that last statement right there tells you the level of intelligence I was working with :P

I guess it's the state of the economy...the last comment I got! As I slowly rolled up to a stop light, the guy next to me asks "What kind of gas mileage do you get?" Look at the car dude! Who cares!

I'm still amazed by the attention i get. Drive through Boston/Cambridge on the weekend and am guaranteed to get a (positive) comment from someone while stopped at a light. People stare all the time too. I honestly think the attention my 8 gets is on par with some of the exotics. I don't believe I'd get as many stares in a $100K PCar.

For sure... my RX-8 gets WAY more attention than cars like the Merc-Benz SL, BMW 7-series, 5-series, and other top-dollar cars. They are just way too common!

I love my car... it stands out like a sore thumb

Down south of Houston maybe 5 to 8 tops, drive RX8's..... I see give or take 1or 2 once in a while,
Ive tricked mine out from the pac, not to say the others don't get that 2nd look cause I'm 96.9% its a given here, but with the mods it jumps to a neck jerking 100% since few are about....so far I have had 3 late model Mustang GT's and a numerous amount of hybid ninja's rap the accelerator pedal at me......**** I'm lovin the attention,(I'm no celebrity) but I'll take one day at a time...

Far as I know, there are 6 here in Montgomery. Four grey, one red, and me with the lonely blue. I agree with everyone else. It is an eye catcher. All other cars are so common that only the ones that are tricked out to the extreme get looks. I constantly get looks and many a time here people say "Look, it's a RX-8" :D

my car gets so much attention specially at work. being a newbie here at work (about a year) almost all of the people here knows me either i work closely with them or because of my car. Just got my car last july and lovin' it. Even the engineers that i work with that makes twice of what i make thinks im a baller because of my car and they drive mercedes and bmws. On the area i live on, ive only seen at least one rx8 before i got mines, but i swear after a couple of weeks that i got my car, i saw at least 3 on the road with the same color as mine (ti gray). and i get a friendly wave or honk from the other rx8 owners when i come across them on the road. kids on the streets even yells out that i have a "cool car"

You got that right. My wife's car is one of the ones you mentioned above. When it's driven, it feels like we are invisible. My screaming yellow 8, on the other hand, almost attracts too much attention.

It'll probably takes years for the LOOK-AT-ME-RIGHT-NOW highlighter yellow paint (that's probably the original name of the paint color...highlighter yellow..but they took off the "high" and "er" and added on the "ning" to make it sound better) on my RX-8 to fade away and no longer be an eye-catcher. To top that off...this color is only a one year run, not a very common color for this car (or any car for that matter), and is no longer available unless you buy a used one, so that makes its eye catching ability that much longer lasting.

I still wonder why I never see any cars out there with this type of greeny-yellow color. I mean I have seen some cars with a yellow paint that is somewhat similar, but nothing quite like this one. I'm also glad Mazda hasn't used it on any of its other models (yet).

I'm sure it'll only be a matter of time, but for now I'll just keep reaping the benefits.

It's kinda sad...where I am at right now in Colorado, (Cherry Hills area) I have seen several Maseratis, Lambo's, Ferrari's etc, but only one other 8. It's great when people in a Lambo look at you...a great feeling.

I have noticed people taking pictures of my 8 with their cell phones as I pass by. Kinda makes you feel like a celebrity.
