stock shift **** question

i searched the site for about an hour and i couldnt find a thread on this probably because its dumb and nobody cared to start one... i have been trying for about two days to screw my shift **** back on so its straight and i cant get it lined up.... i know it sounds dumb but is there a trick to screwing the **** back on so that its pointing the way it should be? I always get it to be 90 degrees to the right of where it should be... dont make fun haha

I haven't removed mine or anything but the hand grip stays somewhat loose to where I can rotate it perpendicular to the center console while still tight enough to were it won't rotate freely. If this is what you mean...

Is it really hard to turn it a bit further? And still really loose when you turn it the other way to line up?

If so, you may want to do something like drop some sort of adhesive into the shift **** (turn it upside down, natch) so that it won't screw on quite as far. May take some turning to get right. Choose a good glue that becomes fairly solid when it dries and one that can stand a lot of heat cycling without becoming adhesive again.

Only 270 more degrees to go... I'd clamp it with visegrips and a rag and keep turning. If all else fails, get a Voodoo **** like mine...it's spherical.

I thought that, or something is stripped. I've noticed that mine remains somewhat loose in the fully tightened, straightforward position.
