change fuilds, make sure you have at least 1/2 tank of gas so water vapors wont freeze and crack your lines, put it in first gear and dont engage the ebrake or youll stretch it... I. wash and wax it and put a safe cover over it. remove the battery. put it on jack stands if you can to prevent tires from having flat spots. DO NOT START IT EVERY NOW AND THEN IF YOURE NOT GOING TO DRIVE IT AND LET IT PROPERLY WARM UP, IF YOU DO YOU WILL RISK FLOODING THE ENGINE , throw some moth ***** in the interior. stuff your intake and exhuast with a shirt or something. fill it up to ~ 3/4 full and put some Sta-Bil in the tank.... and yeah thats about it.

A bar of soap in the interior will keep the critters away, and doesn't smell nearly half as bad as mothballs. Also an alternative to jack stands is just to shove a load of pressure in the tires (50+ psi) and park on some sheets of corrugated cardboard - these will subside before the rubber in the tires does, thereby avoiding flat spots. Also if you have an alarm, do not arm it, that will drain the battery.

I followed the advice found on this forum, and performed a 6 month indoor store. I had a full tank of gas in it, I had instructions on how to start and move the vehicle if necessary, I told them not to perform their weekly start-up procedure, I told them to park it where it won't have to be moved. I told them not to touch the oil. I told them not to put the car on blocks.
I put a baking soda can in the center cup holder for moisture, with the lid taken off. Arm & hammer makes this baking soda that comes in a plastic can container that fits. I also had one in the trunk, as I keep moist microfiber rags there.
I did some leather cleaner and conditioner, quick detail and wax prior to storage, and during they took care of battery removal and trickle charge and maintaining tires at 32 psi.
They put 2 car covers on it. I dropped coverages except for comprehensive.
When I picked it up 6 months later, everything was just as I had left it and in working order, as if it was just yesterday that I dropped it off. The odomoter had not changed. Then I called insurance to add all coverages back. Then I turned the steering wheel all the way left and right, if I remember correctly to reset whatever it is. Then I drove it to the DIY auto hobby shop, changed the coolant, engine oil, and a few days later the transmission fluid and rear differential fluid. Already had the hand pump tool in the trunk for this purpose, screwed fine onto the RP maxgear bottles.
I don't know if they set the parking brake, but it works the same as before.

At present I drive my RX-8 five days a week and my Jeep once a week. I'll reverse the use come winter (snow free weekend providing). Simple.
Full tank of gas in Winter is always a good idea.

Ok....good knowledge but we have a couple discrepancies.
1= Start it once in a while or not?
2= Car cover or no car cover?
3= Blocks or no blocks? (I always keep the race car on stands when not in use, why not the RX-8?)

Ok we REALLY need to settle this "starting or NO starting" situation. Does anyone have any input here? I know it's perfectly fine for normal engined but I know little about rotaty thus far so I can't say either way.

You know that if it is sitting on jack stands you can drive the car.
As long as they are GOOD jack stands.
Just don't pretend you are on a Dyno. Be gentle with it.
Might I suggest only first gear. This would circulate the trans and diff fluids.
Oh ,don't forget to open the garage door !

I would run a search to see all the opinions and the reasons for them. I sorted out the varied opinions in my head, and I decided not to start due to condensation, and not to block since it made sense to me that the suspension is designed to support the car's weight. And also I did not add fuel stabilizer as it was only 6 months. And 6 months later it was driving as if I had just dropped it off yesterday.
I don't think you will have any problems with a 1 month indoor storage if you perform it just like I did mine.
