Stupid Sunvisors!
Alright, let me say I absolutely love my 8, just about every detail... except those damn sunvisors. I know many of you like them, and think that it's cool to be able to see a traffic light through them. Bull! If you can see a traffic light through them, then guess what - the sun comes through too!
Sure, if the angle is right then they will block the sun, but the last couple weeks have driven me nuts as the sun is at a level on the side that comes right through the visor in the morning, and on the way home driving west, it hits right in front of me, and blinds me right through the visor. If I try angling it, then it comes under it!
Are there any visor replacements or inserts to cover those holes? As I said this is the only thing I can fault with the car, but it is annoying.

I have a cd holder that I attached to my visor in my SUV. It uses two vecro straps around the back, and it is solid black fabric with sleeve- like slots for CDs. It would work. I got it in either Wal or K mart. or maybe target. they're easy enough to find.

Partial visor solution
For sun from the driver's side, try tilting the visor (moving the bottom to the right). This usually gets enough of an angle to block the sun, although the visor in annoyingly close to your cheek. It's a compromise, but better than being blinded.
At first, I planned to construct movable covers, with velcro, but I've found I can live with the tilting.

I usually pull down the visors just far enough to block the sun from my eyes but sunlight is still falling on my cheekbones. This means the visor is still angled towards the rear of the car and the bottom edge is nearer my face. This way if I need to see above the bottom of the visor all I have to do is tilt my head a fraction of an inch and then I can see all the way to the roofline. And, the angles of the perforations is such that the sun does not penetrate. I do this with all cars, not just the 8. It's so much easier to "peek" under the visors than when they're pushed forward.

I agree with you Green Thunder18. I went to a fabric store and bought some light gray felt. I got some double sided scotch tape and scissors, and made inserts. I did the upper side, so when they're parked they look normal, but when you flip them down they block the light.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about.
I'm not that tall, 6', and the sun visor is always angled away from me. If I want it vertical as to allow any sunlight to come through the holes, then it completly blocks my view.
As such, the holes are completly useless and have no effect on anything.

Yeah, I think that grey felt is the right idea. Did you back it with anything, like cardboard?
When the sun is coming in from the side of the car (like every evening when I drive home), sunglasses just don't help. These sun visors are basically useless unless the sun is high overhead and I'm driving towards it.

Just felt and double sided scotch tape. I only did the one side - it works. You could do both sides to make it completely opaque, but I found one side is good enough.

I was just thinking this morning that the visors are too short and they aren't useful at all from the side as I sit too far back. I wish they had extensions like some other cars I checked out. I was going to look for an aftermarket/Walmart solution.

I agree I dont care too much for the visor either.
For those who say buy sunglasses, thats easier said then done. I have a small head and sunglasses don't seem to fit right, either too big or my eyelashes hit the lenses.
The only sunglasses I found that fit are Anarchy sunglasses which was stolen from me years ago and now I can't find a place that sells them.

Having said all that, I do not bother to use the FITOVERS when driving my 8. I was an early critic of the sunvisors, but have found ways to make them work most of the time. The sections that are not opaque will block side sun pretty well if you tilt the shade (bottom towards the center of the car). This is awkward -- it is practically touching your chin -- but tolerable.
