Feel free not to contribute.
The RX-8 is really good, but there IS still room for improvement.
For example, a procedure to access the BCM to set start up driver default preferences like:
Cruise control power on, DRL on, TCS off.
Maybe an option to turn off tire pressure monitoring when you have the autocross wheels on.
How about a light weight no back seats option?
A supercharger option?

i'm only giving you a hard time. if there were actually a place to have mazda listen we'd all be putting our two cents and the first words out of everyone's mouth would be FI. the truth is you can try contacting MNAO but it is as good as sending it to the circular file.

like the idea of a light weight back seat, but instead of light weight simply remove it all together. Keep some sort of shelf like part where the seats use to be so you can secure bags, laguage, tires for AutoX etc. I really don't ever have someone sit back there, but do enjoy the back door for ease of placing laptop and other items in there without having to move my seat around.
Maybe upgraded suspension?

Honestly the problem with "suggestion" threads is that they are NEVER suggestion threads, there are Pipe Dream / Wish List / Bitch-fest threads.
The suggestions are at best obvious, but more likely to be just stupid.
Lets look like at what we have already and tag em shall we?
The problem here is that Mazda would have to go pay someone to go through their tangle of code to add these features. This is money that could be spent improving some other part of the car or just improving the bottom line.
These setting increase there liability. ESPECIALLY the TSC off. Yet despite all that these features will not sell a single car. Now one will buy a car ONLY because it has these features or BECAUSE it has these features.
Further more anything that messes with the TCS will need thorough testing. Testing = $$$.
It's a waste of times money. Not a good suggestion and Mazda would be foolish to waste money when they have so little to waste.
TPS are Federal mandate. It would be nice if there was a way to do it. (I hate the little blinking light too)
The seats are ALREADY supposed to be very lightweight. Like 20-30 Lbs. (Consider that EACH of your front seats weight over 30lbs). And someone ALREADY removes the rear seat for track days. He says it's easy and takes 5 minutes.
You already have your suggestion.
These two:
and
...fall into the big ol' Obvious / Pipe Dream / Stupid (cause it's obvious) bin.

they'll need to start under the hood if they want a 2nd Gen RX-8. As much as I enjoy the Renisis, most people won't buy one in a few years if the HP figures don't increase to match it's competitors. (people put too much weight on the "specs" section of a brochure)
Depending on what they do with the engine, mpg will certainly be considered.
I like the idea of the 2+2 seating. If people want a 2 seater, they can always bring back the 7. (or people can buy the MX-5)
- Stock guages would be nice

Yeah bring back the 7 or the 9 for that matter?
Can you smell the three rotors and twin turbos on that one?

pretty cool pic, just ditch the silly wing.
The problem mazda is keeping this car environmentally friendly.

^ rotaries can be environmentally friendly.....we just need a 5 rotor-electric motor, well actually a four rotor electric sequential isn't such a bad idea but it would be making like 200 hp at max =.=

You are welcome Sargent Blatant. Now man the redundant redundant cannon cannons and fire at the breeze off the starboard bow.
Exactly. EVERY suggestion thread ends up being:
More Power
More MPG
Slightly better suspension
Oh and maybe a better stereo
That's why companies don't bother to look at these threads. They are generally pointless.

No, I am not a hater, I want a fourth generation RX-7 more than another RX-8.
Revive the legendary RX-7 without backseats and a car overall comparable to the M3 and the revived Skyline.

• Real oil pressure gauge
• Real engine temp gauge
• Bright yellow 'cruise' light should dim with other dash lights
• No forced induction, please—nothing that might compromise reliability
• Make the car lighter
• No more power! 5.9 sec 0-60 is plenty fast!

Dude, mine has that. It was in the "Fat *** American Package", right below the GT package. You didn't see that?
Anyone here who wants FI is silly. No way will it pass emissions. The only States that would get the FI version would be states with no emission laws, and that doesn't make Mazda any money. The RX-8 barely passes California emissions as it is, rotaries are dirty, and a turbo or supercharged Renesis will be uber dirty. Give it up, it ain't gonna happen.
I agree with this. It sounds harsh but it's true. Plus, this will make RX-8 demand rise in a few years after it's killed off, so our resale prices will go up a *little*. Just look at the third gen 7, a clean example can cost you well over $16,000 and that's an at least 12 year old car.
The problem was not too many people got the memo that the RX-8 isn't an RX-7 replacement and expect the same mind-numbing performance a third gen 7 when they hop in an 8.
With Nissan importing the Skyline, Mitsu has the Evo, Suby the WRX, and Toyota is stiring the pot by rumoring a Supra comeback; Mazda has to play the RX-7 card, and figure a way to get a high-powered rotary to pass emissions, and keep it uber lightweight.

Anyways, the issue is how is Mazda gonna be able to produce a car comparable to the M3 and the revived Japanese sports cars without going FI or the Lotus route?
I would prefer the Lotus route but it might be too quirky for FoMoCo to fund.

i'm fine with the 8's power output now but a little more wouldn't hurt. little more = 15-35hp more to the wheels.
gas consumption shouldn't matter to any owner of an rx8 since they bought it knowing it eats fuel for breakfast. or at least the smart ones, aka enthusiasts.
the suspension is great, so either the same or make it better.
def. agree on the 'fuctionable guages' and maybe a bit more for a sportier look + help.
all around lighter. at least by 150-200 lbs lighter and a bigger fuel tank.
and i'll be one to say....a better transmission!!!!!
