suggestions please : go or no go
i also posted up on purchasing and financing, but i think here might be a good place to.
i am debating whether i should get this vehicle..
i have always been a big fan of rx-8 and
i think my golden opportunity came.
my brother's workmate is going overseas and he has an rx-8 to sell.
however, i don't really know if t would be a good buy.
it is MY06, with him being a 2nd owner.
color is black and i have not seen it myself yet, but my brother tells me that it has navi, so i am assuming the vehicle has good amount of options included.
it has not been involved in reported accidents according to carfax and himself have never been in an accident.
the only problem is that it is at some 42k miles.
i am worried about future reliability and major tune up/maintenance at 50k or so.
he is willing to give it to me for 13.5,
should i take the chance or am i better off searching for other vehicle with lower miles with a little more $$.
thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I wouldn't pay over $12K considering its history. Definately definately have a good mechanic check it out first if you plan on buying. You can find RX8's that have had better lives for $14k-15k...
EDIT: Haha I just reread it and you said the car has NOT been in any accidents. LOL. I retract my statement. If you get it OKed by a decent mechanic then $13.5K is a good buy. Don't worry too much about the maintenance it is a reliable car. Oil changes, spark plugs, coils, ignition wires, etc. are the only things you will probably need to worry about anytime soon and they are relatively cheap jobs considering how often you have to perform them.

Based on what you wrote, 13.5K is a good buy. 42K miles should really be no problem if everything else is OK with it.
However try to find out more specifics about the car - maintenance history, any past problems etc.

thanks for the replies,
it is a 6mt, getting more information tommorrow.
the main concerns is that i will be a 3rd owner, and
i wonder if i could get a better car with just a little more money.
can't wait for more specific info,

that is a great deal really, you still have a year left on the warranty if it's the 06. You can find lower mileage cars, but you'll pay 2 or 3 grand more. You also know who is selling it to you, but drive it and see how it feels.

2006 models are usually pretty good. Most of the recalls had been worked out by then. 42k miles is really not that bad. Honestly, I do not think you could find a 2006 MT for 13.5 anywhere else. Since you know the CarFax report is clean, I would say that it is a good deal.
