Suicide doors and cargo
Well, believe it or not, I bought a 27inch television today and it fit in the front! I measured the seating area with the seat laid down and the dimensions were close but doable. The key in to even being able to do this was the suicide doors. They opened up nice and wide and I used a blanket to protect the seats. Of course I had to take it out of the box. Just thought I'd tell ya where there is a will and a way it can be done.

Somebody needs to design a "table" to lie across the back seat for carrying cargo. The central hump gets in the way of putting outsized stuff in the back.
Great idea...now we just need someone to build it...
It should probably have some rope/cord, tie downs, etc....hmmm....can our 8 become even better?

I have found the RX8 freestyle doors to be extremely useful for loading and hauling outsized stuff. I don't think most folks realize at first what a huge advantage there is to not having a B-pillar.
I agree with the platform idea for the rear seating area -- it would allow some flexibility in loading items across the width of the car. For long items, though, I've had a lot of success by completely reclining the front passenger seat and loading front-to-back.

I went to Costco a couple of months ago and wheeled my very full cart to the parking lot. As I was opening all of the doors and the trunk on the 8, a couple of people were walking by looking at the full cart and the 8. One person said something to the effect of "if you get all of that stuff in that car, it will be a world record". I proceeded to put 5 35 bottle cases of water, 2 cases of cokes, large packages of paper towels and toilet paper, a couple of large pillows and many more of the Costco usuals into the car. They were amazed, and I still had room for more.
Then the 75 mile drive back home.

i transported my buddies Evo8 carbon fiber hood that was delivered to my house to his car at the body shop.. just opened the doors...he guided it in one side..i pulled it through the other.. and rested them on top of the front seats and the back....now i'm not a tall guy..so i can do this..with a little neck bending and it's not safe of course..but it had to be done..short trip..
there's no other sports car i know of that could come close to doing this unless you strapped it to the top of the car..lol... that was the coolest crap ever.. i was so amazed that t fit so well.. also did the tv thing.. Place: wal-mart...tv:21 inches.. box: too big...so the wal-mart guy helping me bring it out to the car goes ..hmm.."do you think it will fit?" i say.."well let's try..." so after trying to squeeze the box in.. just got rid of it..and put the tv in there.. the guy said that was a first for him seein that..lol
