IMO the advantages of the sunroof outweight the disadvantages. I drive with mine open
almost all the time too. I just love the feeling of fresh air blowing through my thinning hair :D

From my exprience, this RX8 sunroof track is less expensive to design, manufacture, and assemble. There is also a lot of weight savings which I think was the #1 priority of the car design. Had a BMW roof crap out, guess how much the sunroof track cost?? $2000. No warranty.

I suppose if you replaced the nuts on the underside of the sunroof with "wingnuts" (or "thumbnuts", whichever term you're familiar with), you could just popit out and stick it in the trunk without much hassle. I kind of like the way it sticks up all "sporty"-like.
I have a 240sx coupe with a sunroof that drops down under the roof. It's not bad, but I prefer the spoiler-type sunroof.
