Is this supposed to be gone?

I was washing my car yesterday and noticed that the small handle-esque molding above the rear-end's license plate is gone. I don't remember there being an opening, but I'm not positive that there was something blocking it to begin with.

Here's some pictures to help you understand what I'm talking about.

While I'm sure my 8 enjoys having me finger her every once in a while, I'm not really sure what's down there. I think it might lead into the trunk, or some part of it. I can go pretty far up there, but I can't fit my entire hand in.

Anyway, I'm just hoping somewhere here knows where this hole leads, whether or not it'll be a problem to have exposed, and where I can get a replacement "cover" (if there even is one)

It looks like the plastic piece that covers the light is missing.

^....................As far as I know, there is only one light up there. Also, as previously described, he looks to be missing the clear plastic cover for that license plate bulb(or LED).
If you don't have it, then you are missing it as well.
I've seen a few of these missing as people don't bother to take out the whole piece when trying to get acess to the bulb and end up busting it!

nothing is missing or lost, if you look under the car behind the rear bumper you'll see the whole assembly hanging there, just clip it back in place.

Look again at his pic in first post. The black(or gray if you will) plastic piece that holds the assembly to the bumper appears to be there. It looks like the cover is missing. Jason took a good shot of what it should look like!
True, it's probably hanging out at the bottom of the bumper on the inside.....or......someone busted the cover trying to get at the light instead of figuring out that the whole assembly should be taken out when getting access to the light. Think that's what I always do, so I don't bust the cover!

There is still a giant hole there even with the cover, but it does appear to be gone.
