Question Suspension

I know that this has been discussed before but I need someone to guide me in a good direction. I want to drop my 8, I was just thinking of doing springs (eibach). After researching on the forum, I'm very confused...

For the suspension you have Struts, Shocks and Springs right? I can either replace the springs and struts or the springs and shocks or just the springs right?

Which will be the best to go with. All I'm looking for is better ride and to drop a few inches for looks. Help very confused

Struts and shocks are kinda the same thing, we have springs over shocks, which are the important parts for droping purposes. If your looking to gover over 1'', I would get new shocks as well. as far as I know only the Mspeed shocks are available.

The ideal is coil-overs (MS, TEIN, JIC all make them for the rx8) because the shocks and springs are made specifically for your car. It's worth the money. BTW, shocks are the same as struts.

ok... so what is the worst thing that could happen if I drop the car. Is my warranty void?
I see lots of people just put springs and wait for the shocks to wear out and then replace them. Is that a better option?

Check with Mazda to see if your warranty will be voided.

If you are so worried about the bad things associated with dropping your car, why consider it at all? If you do lower your car, the ride may be a little harsh, but that's pretty much it. Why would you wait for your shocks to go out? I wish that made sense. For example, what if your shocks start leaking oil? Your springs aren't going to save you.
