Switching to RX 7 possibly

I have had an 8 for a few months, Automatic Transmission, which I admit was kind of dumb and ever since I have been looking for a manual 04 red for a while without any luck. Right now my Credit isnt tip top thanks to student loans so any time I find something good, I either cant get the loan or the payments are in excess of 400 dollars a months.

So basically I was thinking about going to a 7. I know nothing about the RX7 so I really dont know what I should even look for as far as price, year...etc..

Can anyone who has some rx7 knowledge lend a hand?

Thanks alot

if your aiming for a FD, 93-95....twin turbo.....dont waste your time. if you cant afford 400 a month for the 8 the 7 isnt for you. rx-7s are time bombs, at any moment you can lose your motor not to mention any of the other numerous parts that are 15 years old. sure thier fast and look bad *** but if you dont have lump sums of money to spend when things break than its not for you.

however if your looking for a FC, 86-91, that is more reasonable, thier similar to the rx-8 being it has no turbos and is less sophisticated, the turbo models are still less sophisicated than the FD. FCs are more affordable not to mention parts are easier to find.

^^ 100 percent correct

Hate to say it, but the RX8 is actually more affordable than the RX7 unless you have extensive knowledge of the car, pretty much to the point where you can rebuild the motor blindfolded. The RX7 makes a great second car, not a great daily driver because of its age and difficulty to find parts.

If you cannot afford the RX8, I would suggest selling it and looking for a non-rotary car or an even older RX7, but then again you will might have to find a junked one to rob parts out of.

I basically am saying that you should look for another type of car, but if you really want an RX7, check out RX7 forum.

It's not difficult to find parts but it's just the price of the crucial parts that fails and how often they fai l(since it IS a twin turbo 15 year old car). If you want to stick with the rotary game and you don't mind having an older car.. Take a look at the FC or FB. Turbo or non turbo FCs, 13B or 12A FBs... MMmMmmm!
