synthetic vs conventional oil

I have been told that you cannot use synthetic oil in the rx8, that only conventional oil should be used. Is this true, and if so why?

hahahaha dannobre is right.. basically mazda doesn't know the long term effects of using synthetic oil on the 8.... So they aren't sure if the synthetic oil will damage the engine... But I personally recommend using Non-Synthetic 5w-20 Castrol GTX..... but do the search and see what you think... basically it comes down to what you want.........

if you get rid of the stock oil injectors and add premix to the fuel, then yes you can use synthetic for sure. This has been documented on rx7club too I'm certain, basically it has to do with oil injection system being the primary concern as I recall.

Yep, it was RotaryGod at 7S8, I bore witness to the discussion. He has an incredibly lengthy post on this topic and very good explanations in the tech section. Feel free to use the search button if you cannot find it on your own.

Really are you stupid why would you use 5w 20 hell every 8 not in america uses 5w30 cuz america tried to be better on enviroment and gas mileage which dont think helped gas any. unless youre under warranty which doubt you are now or just got good oil for ridiculously cheap id not use 5w20 if anything lightest oil id use is 5w 30 but most people use 10w 30 or 10w40 on rx8s from everyone ive spoke to and read about i personally use 5w30 or 10w30 depending on time of year

So you call another person stupid while replying on a 13 year old thread, with the spelling of a toddler...
