talk me in too a rx8
Ok, what do you guys think? I'm new to this forum, but am a member of the mkv forum. So that means i'm a vw owner. I have an 06 gti. Let's start off by saying my car is my baby. Its a stage 2 don't feel like listing everything but its sweet. It smoke any rx8 without a turbo.
So, a happen to see a black rx8 for sale. Now the rx8 has moon roof, 4 doors and biggest thing rear wheel drive.
I really like the look of the rx8 and i'm sure they will trade straight up. But idk if I want to trade for a slower car? Also the rx8 might be a little impractical for Minnesota winters? Any input would help.
Thanks

the rx8 is such a bad car. its just plain straight up incomparable to that "german engineering" you are driving now.
and FWD vs RWD? that argument is such a joke. you will NEVER see ME saying rwd is any better than fwd. keep your gti. you are waay better off.

We would do you no favors by 'talking you into it'.
How about "I doubledog dare ya?"
The Crossfire is made for you - german engine, impractical, slow, everything you mentioned.

It's hard to help someone else make a personal decision. And as soon as you want a car other than the one that Consumer Reports recommends for spinster schoolteachers, it's very personal.
The RX-8 and GTI are very different kinds of cars. You need to test drive the 8 and see if it grabs you. It's not a drag racer, but its handling is outstanding. The rotary is a joy to rev, and makes you a member of a cult. If you enjoy shifting gears (which I do) the 8 will keep you entertained for hours.
As far as winter goes...the consensus here is that the 8 is good in the snow as long as you get proper snow tires like Blizzaks. It's a little lower than average, which will put some limits on winter driving. I presume that in the winter your GTI is a lot like the Rabbit I used to have: all seasons will get you around just fine. The Rabbit also had the advantage that if it was wrecked I wouldn't mind.
If you need the back seat, check out the 8's space compared to your GTI.
Hope this helps.

RX8 + rear wheel drive + Min winters = baaad. It looks nice but not practical for where you live is it? Unless it's going to be a summer car only and you have the money to invest to make the car as fast as you'd like. I like my car a lot but..........just consider your options first.

You guys better be careful, all this negative talk is sure to get him interested, He might just go test drive the one he has his eye on. That could be a game changer, if he likes it, and then you know what happens next ...he joins the dark side.
