with tears on my eyes

well it was fun, i have my Rx for almost 9 months with 6 oil changes and 4 visits to the cervice center.... i truly love this car but i had it with Mazda's customer care.
i woke up on sunday to move my car from on side of the street to the other to find out my reverse was making noises. so i decided not to use the car that day and take it to the service center on monday. after keeping the car the whole day monday they call saying they couldnt check it out, come tuesday they call saying that my warranty does not cover the damage to the car and to findout if it does i have to agree to let them open my tranny, but if they findout that is not gonna be covered ill have to pay a minimum of 1100 dollars just to open the tranny and after that i can either fix it or they can put it back and give back as it was. i was so angry that i could speak at the time, called the customer service they call them and they say they not gonna charge for dropping the tranny, cool. but its now wednesday and they still didnt give me an answer i feel like these a!@#% at mazda have no consideration on me as a customer, this car came up to 43000 before taxes and the part that makes me more angry its the 3000 dollars i payed for extra warranty. i truly LOVE my baby there is no words that can describe the joy i feel in my Rx8. but the service im getting from mazda is like i bought a daewoo. so with tears in my eyes im saying bye to my pride and joy not for the car but for the F@#$A!@# behing the counters.with tears on my eyes

Yes, not all dealers are created equal. Besides Mazda said they were going to look at it. be patient.

well this just in, mazda cervice center is telling me that my tranny needs to be changed along with a new clutch and flywheel, so here the prices they want me to deal with if they decide they not gonna cover, labor only, minimum of 1100, new tranny 3400, plus whatever the clutch and the flywheel cost at the point he was goin to tell me the price i screamed so much i lost my voice. so tell me how would you feel after buying a car for 48,000 with a 4000 warranty these people tell you you got to pay at least 6000 to get it fix out your pocket???, at this point i feel like i should just take the car and burn it infront of the place, i mean what is warranty good for if it dont cover for engine and tranny, or is it just good for recalls from the factory????

wow that sucks. They will cover your parts if it's a manufacturing defect. But if you're launching at 8k at blow it up then they wont. They probably are going to blame you (even if you honestly did nothing wrong). I would go ahead and make a call to someone at mazda usa and give them an ear full. Usually they end up giving you some kind of break, or even fixing it for free if you play your cards right. If not hire a lawyer.

That's a good sign. My guess is that if you are nice and polite you will get yourself a deal. After this, i would start taking your car to another dealership.

Given the price he's quoting I think he's here in Canada, cause the GT is about 40K here before taxes and all that, List, most people get them cheaper now of course. So guess he'll have to call Mazda Canada??

yeah i know a few friends who had issues with their cars concerning warranties...things that naturally break or just broke out of nowhere. are you getting rid of your rX8? i got rid of mine (even though the wife is super pissed) and got a WRX. Subaru climbed up to #1 for warranty work and reliability so the timing is perfect.

Sorry to hear your dilemma with Mazda.
I had a similar situation with my previous Honda CRV. My condenser was making a wrinding noise after a front end accident. My insurance would't cover it until I have something in writing to say that it was caused by the accident. When I asked Honda to have a look at it and give me a statement to say the possible caused of the issue, they were hesitant as they did not know. The dispute went back and forth for 2 months.
I end up telling Honda they have 2 choses. 1 to give me a statement to say it was not Honda's fault or fix the F@#% thing.
I also told them when they give me the statement to said it was not Honda's fault. I will seek independent advice and sue their *** off.
They fixed the problem the next day.
Ask Mazda to give you a writen statement, so you can seek independent advise and sue their *** off for stressed.

I traded my CRV in for a Titantium Grey 6Speed luxury pack. :D

I worked in Mazda retail for over 10 years in Service. It is very, very rare for any tranny problems. I would suggest that the owner of this 8 has given his car a hard new life. Maximum rev gear changing 90 percent of the time and dropping his clutch. We once had a new buyer of the very first RX-7 Turbo who burnt out his clutch plate in 4000ks. Mazda replaced this ONE free of charge this time. Mazda WORLDWIDE supports their product like NO other car manufacturer I know in my 48 years. I suggest that your attitude may have something to do with their Dealer reluctance to help you.

I sort of agree that some of the Mazda service centers suck. I had a clutch done on my Miata and they did not put the damn thing back together correctly. Unfortunately I moved out of state right after they did the work so I am now pretty well F***ed. Trying to get another dealer to fix the problem is like pulling teeth. They don't want to deal with it.

Knight7 - if you would please articulate the reason Mazda is telling you that you will be out of pocket on a warranty repair, I may be able to help you. So far, all I can figure out is that you have a repair and Mazda is taking the position that you have damaged the vehicle is a manner not covered by warranty.

I didn't purchase the extra warranty (since it picks up after 50k miles and Mazda covers defects until then) but I was told that you could cancel the extra warranty anytime before it actually starts (once you hit 50k miles) and you would get all of your money back. Cancel after it kicks in and it would be prorated.

I hope the situation works out for you and you're able to drive your 8 home, but if Mazda is seriously a pain in the ***, cancelling your extra warranty may be worth it. At least you'll get some cash back. :o

Way to help out. Please drive your mustang off a cliff. :p

Anyway, good luck with your ordeal. I hope the poor service you are receiving doesn't reflect too badly on the 8. Talk to the highest person you can get in touch with and make sure they take care of it. And take it do a different dealer.
