test drive 132mph

I went to test drive the 8 for the sec time today. And I got the craziest salesman ever he told me to go on the freeway,(which I have done before) and then he told me to go as fast as I can before I knew it. I was going way over the speed limit and then shot over 100 mph. I had no idea I was going so fast in tell I look at the speedometer and it read 132 I almost craped my pants. Man this car is awesome I can’t wait to get mine. After it was all done and I had to go back to my automatic 96 Camry I almost started to cry for the 8 I guess I will just have to wait a little more longer.

I asked my spouse how fast she thought the car was going when I was doing 90mph, she said 50.

It is so stable and smooth that it doesn't seem like it's going fast.

My RX8 continues to amaze and please me at how firm and true it is at speed. I have taken lots of friends on "demo" drives (me driving, of course!) and had the car well over 90. Same as Jason, asked the passenger how fast they thought we were going and no one guessed over 60. The car is just PURE PLEASURE on four wheels.

What actually sold me on the car was when the salesperson told me to gun it on this one wide downward sloping freeway on-ramp.

"Go as fast as you can, he said. Don't brake."

So I did! Not even a tire squeal. It was awesome.

I bought the car a couple of week later.

Yup. This sales guy told me "It's your ticket." So I took the ZR1 Corvette to 140 before running out of room.

If you buy from this salesman, make sure that you get a car with no more than 5-10 miles on the odometer, otherwise you might end up buying a car that has been abused on testdrives.

This car is most comfortable at speeds that exceed the legal limits on any highway.

On my first venture over 100 with tht 8, my wife still thought we were doing about 60. Stable and smooth all the way, the engine never gave the impression that it was working hard. Simply incredible, now I know why Chevy was looking at the rotary engine for the Vette back in the 70's (see )http://www.motortrend.com/future/concepts/112_0304_didnt. Smooth and fast.

The skeptic in me thinks he changed the speedo to KM/Hr. That would translate to you doing about 82mph... plenty fast, but not 132mph. 132mph is really really fast.

Oh yeah, very good point. Some dealers will do anything to make you feel good.

But you never know, this car does handle like a dream at speeds well over 100.

Whats with the "i have a broomstick up my ***" reply?

And if you would read the post (that is if you can), his post contains "punctuashun", i.e. commas and periods.

This is a car forum, we're not writing essays for a class..

I don't wish to stray too far from the thread topic but I feel as though I must say this. I was, indeed, able to read that post, barely. The fact that I am a reasonably educated and furthermore, literate individual is what drew me to respond in such a manner. The fact that I have met 6 year olds with a greater mastery of the english language also drew me to respond in such a manner. The fact that you didn't look at that post and recognize that the person writing it was a caveman, puts you in the same category as them, thereby negating your credibility to insult me.

Furthermore, having a period and/or comma in a sentence does not mean that it is "punctuated", only that it contains punctuation. In that respect, I stand corrected. MRSTALIN's post did contain punctuation. It was just all the wrong punctuation in all the wrong places. In the future, please capitalize the letter "I" when using it in the first person. This is a car forum, we're not painting animals on rocks here.

<<stops painting the rock picture>>>
What? Who? ME???
<<goes back to painting on rocks, happily>>:D

Really folks, that is too much. I got up to 100mph without trying hard on my first test drive. I scolded myself for going so fast on the public road. It is really dangerous.
On a closed course I got mine up to 136mph indicated (no GPS that day but I have found I have a 2% error on the high side so more like 133mph true ground speed) and although stable the car is light and would not tolerate any "ham-handed" manuvering. It really shines in the twisties.
Sorry about the punctuation, grammer and spelling errors.

Except when they've learned to read it as well as you have. I can't get away with it anymore, because my husband's driven my car enough to know what speed equals what on the tach. However, this morning on my way to training, it came in handy when my coworker had no idea we were going about 100 passing people on I95.

And the rest of you- quit with the bitching about grammar. Do you really have nothing else to do other than complain about stuff that makes no difference? I don't like bad grammar any more than the rest of you (I'm a writer/editor) but you don't see me being nasty to people just for the hell of it (at least not usually :D). Get over yourselves.
