Test Drive The New Mazdaspeed 6
And it was not what i expected. the car does not feel agresive at all, for a car that has about the same power as the EVo. it feels strong on high RPMs, 5000 and up, but the first 3 seconds the car feels like is desperate. then the turbo kicks in and you feel the pull. the bonnet is super heavy, (the car is about 4000 pounds and i thing 300 are 0n the bonnet.) its a quick car but it doesnt feel even at all, compared to the mitsubitchshit evo and the STi. after the drive i got into my 8 and even with the 37 more hp the speed 6 feels like a toy compared. the rx8 has an smooth go from 0-whatever, i guess i got spoiled. final veredict. Dont trade your Rx8 for a Mazdaspeed 6 cause you not gonna be happy.

I've heard a lot of good reviews about the Speed 6. It has a small turbo that reaches full boost by around 3,000 rpms. It also has direct injection gas, which boosts low end torque. I haven't driven any of the cars mentioned, so I don't know how they all compare, but you have to consider what the Mazda 6 is in the first place. It's a family sedan, not a purpose built street machine.

I thought the car was very nice. Everything from the closing of the doors (you know that sound they make) to the interior quality and exterior quality. The clutch is very quick to catch (might be the fact that it is new) and the engine was very nice but nothing to write home about. I wouldn't give up the 8 for one that is fore sure.
The one things I disliked and thought was cheap was the exhaust tips look like they are attached to the bumper with the little pipe you see on a new Honda in side it, just didn't look right.

I agree....it's more of a poor-mans S60R rather than competition for the EVO or STI.

i compared the too cars based on price, size, engine. all three cars are 4 door sedans all of them are turbo charged 4 cylinder engines. differences? 19.5 pound turbo on the EVo, about the same as the Sti. my question would be, why would i spend 31k on a mazdaspeed6 when i can pay the same and get an Evo or Sti. i mean the only reason im comparin them is because for one sec i tought of changin my Rx8 for the mazdaspeed. but after the test drive is not gonn happen. the reason i dont go for the other two is cause i dont want to sacrifice confort and looks for speed. but for a person thats in the market for those type of cars i doubt the 6 would be a choice.

I also thought the msp6 was a Sube Legacy GT competetor. I was thinkin about trading my 626 for the Legacy gt some day but am also looking at the msp6. I'd like to know how the sube Gt and msp6 compare more than anything else. Any good comparos yet? I'll never trade the 8 except for another 8 or future varient of it.

Also, STI boost is around 14.5psi not 19.

It is a nice car, and a good first step for an entry level turbo/luxury car. I would buy one, especially since I am looking for something a bit nicer for daily duty. Something abut a caged Evo that is a pain to drive around town.

Damn I wish this car came as a wagon. Like that JDM Evo wagon. My fiancee was looking at the 6 wagon or a subie wagon. I am sure that I could sneek the ms under her nose. (just kidding baby if your reading this!)
the ms6 is in no way shape or form ment to compete in the market with the STI or the Evo. Now with the faster sedans like the TL (but not enough ammenities) or the TSX, or the Legacy, or the lower 3 series, the ms6 is a decent competitor (market place-wise.) We dont really know how it will compete where it counts yet, do we?

Funny... they even mentioned that at the end. They said adding leather makes it go over $30k... so they didn't add and what do you know... it was what made it come in 4th place.

im sorry among tsx 325 a4 .. you get a lot more more comfort with the same price
slightly over the price of ms6 .. you get smooth engine and super quality TL or 3.2 awd A4 with just 20 hp less but no turbo lag
ms6 is way overpriced and i cant really put side by side with any of these .. if anything it should be compared to bloated us hemi/john deer sedans ... and im definately not in the market for those
rx8 for ms6 ... you must be insane!!!

TL is overpowered FWD Honda crap. No thanks. Hate Honda to start with and the FWD seals the deal. No torque steer thank you very much.
Audi? Yep... like buying a VW. Good thing you have a warranty.
325? Underpowered. But it Is a BMW 3 Series... so it will overal drive well. Too bad BMW overpriced all their cars when they released the new models. Good thing BMW has a good warranty too... fixing them isn't cheap and getting a car without problems seems to be a game of roulette.
TSX or MS6? Read what I said about the TL.
It'd be Volvo (with AWD of course), Subaru (Legacy GT) or MS6.

i've driven all the volvos except for 80 .. they feel like sex with a cow .. the 80 must be like sex with an elephant .. i would think ms6 would do better than any of them
i def dont agree with you on the tl and audi .. but i cant believe that i did skip the legacy gt .. that would be leader of this group for me
my neighbor has one .. amazing (thou visually not as pleasant and clean as a tl)
