Test drove a couple of Audis today...

Why not wait for the subaru brz or scion frs? especially since theres talk of a turbo brz. More power with similar delectable handling, probably has a good short throw shifter as well. Although by the time that car comes out we may start hearing a lot about some RX 9 or something who knows and then you might want to wait some more.

I share your sentiment.
I do not get emotionally attached to vehicles and am no fanboy of anything that's just an object, in reality.
But after test driving literally 15+ cars over the last couple of years, including quite a few 'premium' ones, in contemplation of replacing the 8, I walked away feeling that new cars are definitely becoming more and more like fashion accessories, with cheapened bits of what one can't see (everything is built to a price point), in an effort to slather lipstick on those bits that people do see (and touch) on a test drive (or for the first few months of ownership).
Not a single one of these new cars could come close to matching the 8 in terms of balance of handling, feedback, refinement and goodness brought about the mechanical bits one can't see on a dealer's lot.
Cars are becoming more and more like fashion accessories, or the ever yearly churning of 'smart phones' and iGadgets.
And quite frankly, it makes me sick just thinking about it.
