Both cars with neutral alignment and comperable drivers are very close in numbers from my experience with autocross. Again though S2k can be set up fast relatively easily, but the 8 takes some more doing. Give it time and experience and we will see, it is dominating B Stock like the S2k did a few years back. If your realy from the Shaolin you should know that speed comes from the man, not the machine.

HaHa, I must admit I have been reading this post for the past couple days and laughing about it. What percentage of people who buy the 8 or the s2000 actually race it on a track or whatever you guys are all saying? Is that going to justify which car is better? If I can get good performance (for what I need), the looks of a sports car instead of a box (I gave that up when I stopped "tricking out" my accord), and fun while driving does it really matter that some dude drove another car faster than mine on a track I will never see? Personally, I find it quite comical that I can get pretty close performance out of my 4 door 4 seater RX8 as that of a 2 seater Honda and pay a whole crap load less for it. Itll be nice when I have a family and I can take them all in the 8 to dinner when my son says "daddy lets go in your car today." I wont have to tell them..."no son, there isnt enough room for you unless you want to sit in the trunk." That amazes me, Mazda did a good job of making a COMPLETE car, which doesnt fall victim to the sacrifices of owning a sports car. I love honda, always will, but if someone asked me to spend 35000 for one I would laugh at them, raise 5000 more, and get something better.

Shaolin:
This is straight from the SCCA website:"SCCA Solo events, often set up in parking lots or any place with a large expanse of pavement, are all about a DRIVER'S ability to accurately and precisely maneuver around a pylon-marked course in the fastest time possible.
If you think YOU have what it takes to beat the clock and your fellow drivers, then show up an SCCA Solo event. Prove that YOU'RE as good as your car looks, that YOU have what it takes to go fast. Don't think your car is up to it? Show up anyway. Chances are someone will show you the ropes behind the wheel of theirs"
"With over 1,500 SCCA Solo events each year for all levels of driver skill and car preperation, you'll have the chance to guage yourself against drivers from next door or across the Country."
The SCCA even states above that speed is from the man not the machine.
So if you proclaim to be shaolin then you should know speed comes from the man not the machine.
Frances, I'd like to personally thank you for helping me in finally shutting this guy down. I've been arguing with his unfounded claims by myself for the past couple of days without any help. How you came up with that shaolin monk stuff was brilliant just brilliant. As you can see this has left him dumbfounded and without response and with the SCCA to back as well. Once again thanks.

I'm all for real world data to quantify the arguments here, but the SCCA data posted on page 4 show only about 15 different S2000 drivers and maybe 5 different RX-8 drivers. That is not nearly enough data to derive any meaningful trend.
That has been bothering me the whole time I have been reading over this thread.
However, there may be something in the fact that the SCCA bumped up the S2000 into a higher class.

Just for the record, someone brought up the S2000 not having side airbags while having an MSRP of $34K. Well, NHTSA gave a 2005 S2000 a five star rating on a side crash -- that's out of five stars. If you're wondering, they gave a 2006 RX8 four stars.
Oh, and how's your lower control arm doing? Wait I can't hear a word you're saying...let me put the top up.

shut me down? I've been out with the lady tonight. I'm sorry my life consists of mor than arguing semantics on this forum.
anyways frances and turbodiesel...the shaolins have long been dead killed off by chinese government...its a friggin screen name...nothing more.
and the two of you bone heads have proved nothing. frances you admitted to being new to scca...the s2k has been consistent in its times since its debut, and the rx-8 has had nearly 4 years and we still see slower times.
your selective copy paste of scca is simply a recruiting ploy to imply that drivers of all skills are welcome. there is a reason why scca classifies vehicles seperately...driver skill goes so far, but in order to compare drivers more reasonably...we need vehicle classes. when a particular vehicle continues to dominate a class continually it is bumped up a class. as in the case with the s2k. this is with all drivers of all skill levels competing.
your speculations on the rx-8 someday being bumped up due to its competitiveness is simply that. speculation...nothing more.
the two of you have succeeded in proving nothing. fine throw scca results out. go read the technical discussion at motortrend article previously posted...yep same results. s2k the winner in handling and not to mention...acceleration.
my arguments are far from unfounded...I have scca classes, times, plus every mag article (though I hate mags) states the same. it is you who deals in speculation and conjecture and use rx-8 marketing ploys as technical arguments with plagiarism and heresay. scca results and technical reputable comparisons from sources like motortrend all speak against you.
the two of you can go take your circle jerk elsewhere.
