Is there a difference
I have two quick questions:
1 Is there a way to tell the difference between a 192 and 231. If the two were parked beside each other, is there a way to distinguish the two of them (taking into account that the person who owns the 192 hasn't added any extras to the car)
2 When you are driving the RX-8 hard, what does the beeping noise tell you:
a when to change gear
b your driving the car to hard (as in you should be trying to avoid hitting the beep)
thanks in advance

The difference between auto and manual would be just in the gear ****/paddle shifters (so far as I know)
I love to shift at the BEEP, but don't do it TOO often, it could be hard on the tranny (I could be wrong). But it's also very good to do it and get all the carbon buildup out of your engine/cat.. The 8 makes most of its torque at the higher rev range, so it won't hurt the motor at all to redline, but shifting every time up there could stress out the tranny..

from the outside, the only way to tell one from the other is if one car is the base level automatic. they come with some ugly 16" rims. If they upgrade the rims, then they'll look similar.
After that, tell tail signs for package or trim are sunroof and leather seats. Under the hood stuff is not visible other than looking at the gear shifter / steering wheel area.

Oh and the beep is fine. It's how the car let's you know it's happy.

from just the stock appearance of the car... the size of the rims is a big one. Smaller rims = less power.
Sunroof = GT = powa!
MT = powa!
the beep is to warn you that you're about to hit the fuel cut off... you can drive at 9k rpm and it doesnt sound bad (nor is it bad)... that's why it beeps.... other cars at redline sound like they're screaming rape... thus they dont have a beep cuz you're going to shift it anyways.
i like to drive at redline when going around off ramps or on ramps... i feather back and forth off of readline and i hear beeep.... beeeppp... beeep...
