The year plus saga for a car is over at last!
Well after all this time, researching, test-driving, looking at various cars, BMW’s Audi’s, Subaru’s, Infiniti’s, Mitsubishi’s, VW’s, I brought a car home today. I had to drive 60 miles each way for it but at least its home. The pictures are crap since it took six hours to close the deal and the wife immediately wanted to take the kids for a trip which ended at her parents house for dinner. So by the time the kids are in bed and I can slip out to take pictures its almost dark.
Father-in-law took a bunch of pics (photography buff) so I’ll try to get good ones up soon.
2006 Copper Red Shinka

Cargo Net
Now all I need to get is clear corners and stainless steel strakes.
Not using a key is going to take some getting used to and I miss my nav, going to have to get one soon, Garmin probably. And damn those cupholders really do get freakin hot

Congrads! Sounds like you did your homework and will be very happy. Welcome to our world. Read your manual, this is an exotic, its not like your piston cars. It is oil injected and will go thru a quart of oil in 2-3k miles depending on how you drive it. Wait til it is broken in before you go for the red-line. Then you will enjoy the fun from 5-9k rpm for years to come.

Congrats. Make sure you tell us what your final price was to help others in the future. I saw that you posted already. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...84#post1471484

Congrats man! you did your research and bought the car that is best for you. A lot of people jumps head first into something and ends up not liking what they have. Seems like chances are you are going to be very happy.

Thanks everyone, yep I'm up to date on all the little caveats of the 8, going to get some oil today to keep in the trunk as well as a funnel and some rags.
The break-in is killing me already, I put almost 150 miles on it yesterday, took some twisties near my house that I have driven for a long time and man this thing handles great! I'll be following the Mazda break-in followed by the rotary mechanic's suggestion so only upping the revs by 1k per 200 miles, 4k-600m, 5k-800m, 6k-1000m, and so on. I average over 300 miles per week just going to work so it shouldn't take long
Good thing my son will rarely be in the back, not used to him being close enough to my seat to be able to kick me, more than a tad annoying.
The Copper Red was my second favorite, I wanted a VR with B/R interior but I couldn't find one in a 75 mile radius. I found several CR Shinka's so I got working on those. Took over a month to find a dealer or two willing to get me what I call a fair price. $200 below invoice after all fees were included plus Mazda incentives.
Being in the Baltimore/DC metro area helps alot, many dealers around here.
