Thinking of buying the RX 8

Hi im new to this forum.....

Im thinking of buying the RX 8 in the near future. The first thing that made me want to get this car is the looks. I think this car looks amazing. I thin the interior of this car is awesome too. I really like the idea of the fourdoor pretty much looks like a two door. I think to concept of the rotary engine is very unique and interesting.

I was wondering what else is great about this car??? Is there anything that is better about this car that its competitor dont have or what is it better at???
Is this car really reliable seeing as I would be drving it alot!!!

If you guys could put some input in it would be awesome

oh ya if I wanted to take the stero out and put my own deck in is it possible or is it a pain in the ***

1, Four years on the road and the RX-8 is still unique. Expect to talk about this car ALOT.
2, 78,000 miles with very few problems
3, Changing the radio is a pain.

The car is not a low-end torgue monster. Get a mustang if thats what you want. After its up to speed its fast enough. The car is made around the Rotary engine. The output shaft of the rotary engine is in the center, so this puts the center of gravity lower then a piston engine, since the engine is lower in the car. The car handles very nicely. The rotary engine has most of its torgue higher up in the revs. This makes it more fun to drive hard up near its 9k rev-limit. It's like driving a electric motor, very smooth. The small rotary engine is not a good miles per gallon engine. I normally get 17 in town and 21 on the hwy. Some get lower and you can get higher, that depends on how you drive. Myself I have had seven rotary cars and Mazda has taken care of me. I have had few problems in my 521k miles on Rotary engines. It is an Exotic so it is different and you will have to learn about those things.

No chance against my 350Z down the straight, it can match it in the corners. I do like the way the RX-8 handles more, but the 350Z just has more ***** and it is a faster car overall due to its power.

One thing that turns me off about the 350z is its only a two seater......personally I need a car that seat four. I was looking at mustangs too but I find them ugly....to many people have them.....interior blows in my opinion and its a pretty large car. The only upside i find is the hp

how much hp can you add to the rx8 without going off the money chart?

The RX-8 was not designed to dust Mustangs at stoplights. There are many cars, trucks & SUV’s that can accelerate in a straight line faster than an RX-8. You will be disappointed if that is your idea of a sports car. That said the only time I feel the car is slow is coming out of turn 7 at Watkins Glen. But I am also 39 and my drag racing on the street days are long gone.

You can get 10-40 more hp if you want to invest 300-600$. You will have to spend 3.5k to 6k too really get much more. These are all approx!!

How does the rx8 match up for insurance?? do they usually base insurance on hp so the more hp you have the higher you rate will be?

Check out the "Aftermarket Performance Modifications" and its sub-forums for adding HP. You can't add anything useful without blowing.

If you need a car that seats four, make sure you and your three companions will really fit in the 8. If you've got six-footers in the front and the seats are all the way back, there is no leg room in the back. Not cramped leg room - literally no place for legs to fit.

If the stock HP is enough for you, and the seating fits your needs, the car is fantastic.

I also considered a Mustang GT when I was shopping. Driving the RX-8 (really nice twisty road behind the dealership) put me off that idea. The zoom factor hooked me.

The insurance is lower on a 4-door car, call your carrier and compare.
