Thoughts on Fuel Additive

Hey guys,

wondering what some of you do with fuel additives, like the ones that clean your fuel system that you put in with a tank of gas. I used to do them on my other cars once every few months, is that recomended? Or is it a waste? Also what are some good ones you guys use. I used to use that Shogun stuff back a few years ago. What are some of the best ones and types to get?

I Always once a month put the tune up in the clear bottle its good for the fuel and the oil so i figure for the rotory that would be perfect seeing that it mixes anyway !

What brand is that?

And for those suggesting the Lucus Fuel, is that the Injection Cleaner you guys use?

I was looking at this
http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,.../selectZip.htm

Do you just poor a little bit in or the whole bottel, also do you do it on a full tank or half tank of gas?

Waste of money. Any quality gasoline already has all the additives needed.

Perhaps, but at least it's 100% American crude.

BG44k is the best for one-time cleanups - most others are snake oils and a waste of money. Some of the very few other cleaners worth considering are Chevron's Techron, Redline SI-1, Gumout Regane, which all use the same main cleaning ingredient.

IMHO, you should add a fuel lube/cleaner to every tank and Lube Control's FP Plus is the best out there.

Lucas UCL is an alternative that is a good lubricant, but just an average cleaner, but would be a good second choice if you are NOT premixing. Redline SI-1 also has a little lubricity, but is mostly a cleaner.

Note that if you are premixing as well (adding 2-cycle oil to gas), then stick with FP Plus (linky below) as Lucas UCL may be causing fuel pump clogging when mixed with other 2-cycle oils.
